Color Code Your Bible

Hey Gems! I pray you all had a blessed week at work and/or school. Today's post is a Bible tip that I personally find useful and so do many other Christians. Do you sometimes read your Bible and wonder how you can remember something specific like a date, a person, location, favorite verse or a command from God? Well, I'm going to help you out today with a quick tip! Yes that's right! Color coding is not just for your homework or the office. You can color code in your Bible as well. Color coding your Bible is a great way to keep track of certain things you want to remember or pinpoint. I'm a color code fanatic! I find it not only helpful to color code in my Bible, but it also makes it pretty as an added bonus. What is the color coding method?

Wednesday Word | Not A Judge

Happy Hump Day Gems! It's the middle of the week which means it's time to really reflect on how the week has gone so far and how we would like it to go for the rest of the week. Wednesday Word is in full effect and this is the second one. Ever since I wrote the first Wednesday Word last week, I've been asking God what this week's should be about and He immediately showed me many different ideas and topics to talk about. However, even with the boat load of ideas He gave me it's been hard to really pick one that would be perfect for this week. It wasn't until I started typing this post out that I settled on a focus for today...

Bible Study Essentials

Happy Monday Gems, Over the past three weeks I've been sharing my tips and thoughts on how to begin studying the Bible. I've shared six easy steps into getting started and gave four study methods to try out. Now we're going to talk about something else... Now, I know this may seem crazy to some of you. Essentials? For Bible study? Yes, there are some essentials that I believe are key to having an effective Bible study. These essentials can also help to make studying your Bible more interesting, interactive and fun ( at least for us girls ). Eight Bible Study Essentials 1) A study Bible is essential to your Bible study. Get a study Bible in a translation you understand with good, factual commentary. It can be a regular study Bible or a study Bible specifically geared towards women. 2) A secondary Bible is great to have in a different translation to help you further understand what you are reading. 3) Pens and pencils to write, underline, star, circle or box

War Room {Movie Review}

Happy Friday Gems! Today I want to do a review on an awesome movie that I tend to recommend a lot to new believers and seasoned ones. It's a movie that will speak to your heart and change your life. War Room is by far one of my favorite Christian movies, besides from The Passion of Christ. War Room is all about family, prayer and faith. It goes deep into how we fight our battles in the flesh and how we really should fight them in. About the Movie : From the award-winning creators of Fireproof and Courageous comes WAR ROOM , a compelling drama with humor and heart that explores the power that prayer can have on marriages, parenting, careers, friendships, and every other area of our lives.  Tony and Elizabeth Jordan seemingly have it all—great jobs, a beautiful daughter, and their dream house. But appearances can be deceiving. Tony and Elizabeth Jordan’s world is actually crumbling under the strain of a failing marriage. While Tony basks in his professional success and f

Wednesday Word | Psalm 16: 2, 5 and 8

Good Morning Gems! Today starts the beginning of Wednesday Word! Every Wednesday I want to really look deep into the Word of God by breaking down a scripture and relating it to life. I think it would be perfect for the middle of the week as a pick-me-up and a bit of an evaluation to get your mind going on how your week has been going and how you want it to go for the remainder of the week. This first Wednesday Word is focused on Psalm 16: 2 , 5 and 8 . Though I absolutely enjoy the entirety of Psalm 16, I thought really looking at these three verses for the day would be very inspiring and motivational to all who read this post.

Four Bible Study Methods

Hey Gems, Hope your Monday morning is going great. As you know, last week we talked about how to study the Bible and I gave you six basic tips. Today I'll be sharing four Bible study methods that I have used and still use. These methods are effective and pretty easy to follow. SOAP or SOAK Method This is by far the most popular method that many people use. I've used a few times. SOAP or SOAK stands for: S cripture. O bservation. A pplication. P rayer or K neel

Faith-Based Bucket List

Happy Friday Gems! I missed out Wednesday's post because I was thinking of what to do on Wednesdays and I came up with something, but I can't share that until next week. Today, however, I wanted to share something I've been pondering over the past two weeks and that's a faith-based bucket list.

How To Study The Bible

Hey Gems, Today I want to answer a question that I know MANY people ask. From new Christians to mature Christians. We've all asked the same question at least once or maybe even twice in our life time. It's a question that leaves many people afraid  to crack open the Bible and read it. It's a question that leaves many trying to figure out how to effectively  go about it. It's even been a question that leaves us doubtful  at times in our walk. " How Do I Study The Bible? Where Do I Begin? " Yes, if you think about it, some of us still, to this day, ask that question. Some feel embarrassed to ask this question, but I think this question is one that ANY and EVERYONE should ask themselves. Why? Once you truly start to ask yourself this question it means that you don't want to read the Bible as if it's a storybook. No. This means that you truly want to dive deep  into the Word, understand  it, be able to apply  it to your life and be able to share

Current Christian Playlist

Hello Gems, Today is a music kind of day! I wanted to share some of my favorite Christian songs from the month of August. This will be a monthly post that I'll do the beginning of each month ( the first Friday of every month ) for the previous month. These are songs that I seem to play nonstop and truly feel my spirit jump for. Songs that I desire to dance to. Songs that I listen to during my quiet time with God. I'll be sharing 5 songs with you in this post so you can enjoy them just as much as I do. 1) Put It On the Alter by Jessica Reedy This song always gets me going in the morning. This really reminds me to give all my problems to God. Not to worry or stress about anything. When I hear this song it IMMEDIATELY makes me feel 10x better than I was feeling before hearing it. Truly love this! 2) Jesus by Le'Andria Johnson

Favorite Devotionals

Hello Gems! I recently did a post sharing my 5 favorite Christian non-fiction reads and in that post I stated that I would be doing a separate one for my favorite devotionals. I decided to only share my favorite 4 at the moment, so there will be a part two to this post some time down the line. Devotional books are amazing! I find them helpful in so many ways: Great to read first thing in the morning to get your mind on God and positivity Helps you pray when you're stuck on what to pray Allows you to see Godly principles in practice/application Great to read before bed to help you get relaxed Devotionals were created for individuals to read for personal edification and spiritual formation. There are so many types of devotionals that are geared towards every type of person in this world. Be it a devotional on marriage for women, one on school for teens, one on faith for men...there are just so many. I have a shelf full of devotionals ranging from quarterly ones to one

Top 5 Christian Non-Fiction Books

Hello Gems! It's a bookish kind of day. Today I wanted to keep it light for you all, but still informative. I decided to share my favorite Christian non-fiction books with you all. Now, I will not be including devotionals as I will be sharing a separate post for that ( I own so many great ones ). I am a book nerd at heart. Always have been and always will be. I can go through 100+ books in a year ( crazy, I know, but I love books ). This year I got more into reading Christian non-fictions. I try to read at least 2-3 a month, not including devotionals or bible study guides though. I have five awesome Christian non-fiction books for you all that are all Christian lifestyle kind of books. I don't read many Christian fiction books, but I may down the line some day. #1: Fervent by Priscilla Shirer THIS IS BY FAR MY FAVORITE CHRISTIAN BOOK OF ALL TIME! First, if you have not seen the movie War Room I suggest you do! The main protagonist in the movie is the author of thi

Why Daughter of Increase?

Hello Gems! I first want to take the opportunity to say thank you for reading my new blog. I am proud to finally launch this blog to provide Godly inspiration, motivation and encouragement to females of all ages and races. I felt, for the longest time , a pull to use my passion for writing and my YouTube platform to help advance the kingdom of God by sharing my walk with Christ and growth with God with the world. To start off I decided to go with the name Daughter of Increase  for this blog because it just clicked with me. My first inductive bible study that I did was on the Gospel of John and it blew my mind how much gold I found within each chapter. It's probably one of my top 5 favorite books in the bible. What pulled at my heart strings the most when I read all 21 chapters of John was John 3:30:
