Top 5 Christian Non-Fiction Books

Hello Gems! It's a bookish kind of day.

Today I wanted to keep it light for you all, but still informative. I decided to share my favorite Christian non-fiction books with you all. Now, I will not be including devotionals as I will be sharing a separate post for that (I own so many great ones).

I am a book nerd at heart. Always have been and always will be. I can go through 100+ books in a year (crazy, I know, but I love books). This year I got more into reading Christian non-fictions. I try to read at least 2-3 a month, not including devotionals or bible study guides though.

I have five awesome Christian non-fiction books for you all that are all Christian lifestyle kind of books. I don't read many Christian fiction books, but I may down the line some day.

#1: Fervent by Priscilla Shirer

THIS IS BY FAR MY FAVORITE CHRISTIAN BOOK OF ALL TIME! First, if you have not seen the movie War Room I suggest you do! The main protagonist in the movie is the author of this book and this book is based on that awesome movie. I have yet to find a book to top this book in all honesty. I'm so hooked on this book because it focuses on the prayer life of women (men and children too). I struggle with praying on a daily basis and making sure that my prayer is effective as it should be. This book has taught me so much about how to be fervent (pun intended) with my prayers. How to properly focus my energy in times of troubles (not all troubles of course) and really seek God's help and guidance through prayer. I've noticed a lot about my life and myself as an individual after reading this powerful book. I highly recommend this book to a ton of people!

Synopsis
Satan isn't your enemy in an impersonal way; he specifically wants to destroy you! In her book, Fervent, author Priscilla Shirer brings her recent debut role in War Room into the lives of real women to show them how to renew their passion, refocus their identity, deal with regrets, defeat temptation, weather fears, and uproot bitterness. Fervent is a woman's battle plan for serious, specific, and strategic prayer.

#2: Wisdom of the Bible by Pastor Tonia Jenkins

Okay now this one is near and dear to my heart because the First Lady of my church wrote this book and it's jammed pack with so much goodness about wisdom in the Bible. I'm always seeking wisdom in the Bible and this book has it all in one place. I found this book easy to read within a week as a daily devotional. I used the scriptures to help further my bible study and this would even work great as a study material for a topical word study on wisdom. If you're a fan of wisdom, how God gives it to us and how to apply it our daily lives, I highly suggest this book!

Synopsis
A collection of your favorite Bible verses organized for any occasion, Wisdom of the Bible is an invaluable resource. It provides day-to-day insights and hope from the greatest story ever told. It draws on the Scriptures to provide words of advice and inspiration on relationships, love, family, and more. It brings God’s guidance to those who need it most. It's the book to reach for whenever you need a word of wisdom. A great gift idea.

#3: The Esther Anointing by Michelle McClain-Walters

Let me just say, in all honesty, this book along side the studying the gospel of John is what spurred my passion for creating Daughter of Increase. This book is all about Esther and how we can become women like her -- a woman of prayer, courage and influence. This book was one that I read when I did my Bible study on the book of Esther and it opened my eyes to so much and made me want to do more. The strength and courage that Esther had and all that she endured in her process to become a queen of a foreign nation was so profound. This book dives deep into the Word and dissects it. gives some There are powerful declarations and prayers (which I will be sharing in future posts). I cannot truly put into words how much this book impacted my life, but all I can say is that without this book it would have taken me more time in getting Daughter of Increase launched.

Synopsis
Be inspired by Esther, an incredible woman of God.
Esther was willing to risk her life for the welfare of her people and the furthering of God’s plan. Strategically positioned by God in a place of influence, Esther is a powerful biblical example of how God can use anyone. She answered God’s call and went through a season of preparation physically and spiritually to get ready.
Just like in biblical times, God is positioning women today and giving them divine opportunities to influence the culture for His glory. The Esther Anointing gives you the keys to Esther’s success, including the qualities that make women great, the power of influence, and the key to finding God’s favor for your assignment.
It doesn’t matter where you came from or what skills and talents you have; if you let Him, God can use your life for His glory!

#4: Love Unending by Becky Thompson

I think this book is essential for any mother struggling with balancing her romance with her husband (or significant other) and her role as a mother. This is geared mostly toward married women, but seeing as I'm only engaged to be married and have been with my future husband for 5 years and we've been parents for 3, I just had to read this. I will admit that during my pregnancy and even after giving birth my relationship hasn't been it's best for many reasons. This book was so profound in helping me realize the things I miss and don't do any more. Things like giving him a hug when I first see him, kissing him just because or even physical touch such as holding hands or cuddling. When I became a mom everything was about my little one and not about my relationship, my fiance or even myself. I used this as a daily devotional for 3 weeks. I still struggle a lot with finding that balance, but the prayers within this book help me so much.

Synopsis
The stress of keeping up with household, childcare, and career challenges often erodes marriages. But what if you and your husband could begin each day with a clean slate? Taking you on a 21-day journey, Thompson helps you break the cycle of tedium and resentment and recapture the love you first felt for one another.

#5: Women of Easter by Lizz Curtis Higgs

This book was awesome to read. It focused on the 3 Mary's in the Bible: Mary of Bethany, Mary of Nazareth and Mary Magdalene. This is the perfect book to use as a Bible study for Easter time. I absolutely enjoyed reading about the three Mary's and how Jesus used them to share the gospel. It amazed me to learn that women of the bible were the main ones that stayed true to Christ (even His disciples refused to believe or acknowledge at times). This was a great study and showed me a lot as a woman of God. I think all women should read this book at least once in their lifetime. You'll learn a lot from this beauty. Even the cover is gorgeous (gold foil in person)!

Synopsis
This Bible study for the Lenten season explores the stories of three women who played a vital role in the life and ministry of Jesus. Follow in their footsteps as they journey with Jesus through Holy Week!
With unforgettable insights and powerful life application for today's women, Liz digs into the biblical text to help us view Easter through the eyes of Mary of Bethany, who prepared the way before the cross; Mary, the mother of Jesus, who was addressed from the cross; and Mary Magdalene, who proclaimed Christ's resurrection after the cross. Also included are some Easter hymns.
