DOI Book Club - Fervent by Priscilla Shirer

Good morning Gems!

Today, I'll be sharing with you all one of the exciting things I'll be starting in March and it's a book club! I polled on Facebook and Instagram and had you all vote and the winner was a no-brainer!
This is the first Book Club that I’ll be hosting ever and I am so excited. Fervent by Priscilla Shirer won hands down! We’re jumping into the topic of prayer and I’m a big person on reading and learning all that I can about prayer. I don’t know about you all, but my prayer life has its ups and downs.

Now for those of you who don’t know, Priscilla Shirer is the actress from the movie War Room (which I HIGHLY recommend). She wrote a book for woman based off of the movie. Here’s bit of what to expect from this phenomenal book:

“You have an enemy . . . and he’s dead set on destroying all you hold dear and keeping you from experiencing abundant life in Christ. What’s more, his approach to disrupting your life and discrediting your faith isn’t general or generic, not a one-size-fits-all. It’s specific. Personalized. Targeted.

So this book is your chance to strike back. With prayer. With a weapon that really works. Each chapter will guide you in crafting prayer strategies that hit the enemy where it hurts, letting him know you’re on to him and that you won’t back down. Because with every new strategy you build, you’re turning the fiercest battles of life into precise strikes against him and his handiwork, each one infused with the power of God’s Spirit.”

Book Club will take place every Monday, so we’ll be reading this book together for a total of 6 weeks. We’ll read 2 chapters a week. Every Monday I’ll post about the chapters for the week and open up the discussion in the comments sections.

I know some of you are into study guides, so I decided to create a quick guide to go along with the reading and help us dive further into this book and really get some things out of it.

Now, for those who have not seen the movie War Room or even to those who have and are obsessed with it like I am I would say let’s all watch it prior to the start of Book Club. It will help you to understand the book further.

I am so excited for this first Book Club and can’t wait to embark on this journey with you all…

The schedule will go as follows:
March 5th – This Means War & Opening in Prayer
Monday 12th – Strategy 1: Your Passion & Strategy 2: Your Focus
March 19th – Strategy 3: Your Identity & Strategy 4: Your Family
March 26th – Strategy 5: Your Past & Strategy 6: Your Fears
April 2nd – Strategy 7: Your Purity & Strategy 8: Your Pressures
April 9th – Strategy 9: Your Hurts & Strategy 10: Your Relationships
April 16th – Wrap up and next book poll

Once again, this begins on Monday, March 5th to April 16th on Instagram, Facebook group and Facebook page.

Need a copy of the book?! Get your hands on it before Book Club begins!

Once again, if you have NOT seen the movie War Room I highly suggest that you do for further understanding and your own personal enjoyment!

Thanks once again to all of you who were interested in the Book Club!

VOTW | Isaiah 41:10 - Ever Present Help

Good morning Gems (& Gents)! This past weekend has been insane in both a good and scary way. I experienced something frightening, but in that situation I felt a sense of peace and contentment that I'd never would have experienced before if my relationship with God wasn't where it is now. As I was thinking of a verse for this week, I came across this one from the book of Isaiah and I knew this was it: Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. Such a small, yet powerful verse. This is a command and a promise from our Father whether we are in times of despair or in seasons of gladness. Though told this to the people of Israel, this verse is still true to His children today. Let's start off by breaking down some of the words in this verse shall we: Fear : the Hebrew word is  yare' meaning to cause to frighten ( affright ); to make or be afraid;...
