Waiting on Wednesday | Daughter of Rome by Tessa Afshar

Morning Gems!!!

It's Wednesday so it's time for Waiting on Wednesday post and I'm excited about this upcoming book. I am a MAJOR fan of Mrs. Tessa Afshar. No seriously, I adore ALL of her books. They've all left an impact on me. When I heard she was coming out with a new book I was super stoked for it.
Now if you haven't seen the cover reveal of this book you can either check out that post or just continue to scroll on down 🤷🏾‍♀️.

If you thought I was joking about my love for Tessa's writing then just let me fill you in. She has seven books published. Of those I've read six and of those six I've given five of them a rating of 5⭐ and one a rating of 4⭐.

My favorite book she has written hands down is Pearl in the Sand with Bread of Angels close up.

The funniest book she has written to me is Harvest of Rubies duology (Harvest of Rubies & Harvest of Gold). I enjoyed In the Field of Grace. The one I gave 4⭐ is Thief of Corinth.

I'm stalling on reading Land of Silence because I know there will be tears!!

So since I rambled on about her books let's dive into her upcoming release...

TitleDaughter of Rome

Author: Tessa Afshar

AgeAdult

GenresBiblical Fiction, Christian Fiction, Historical Fiction

Expected Publication Date: February 4, 2020

Publisher: Tyndale House Publishers

Pre-OrderPaperback | Hardcover | Kindle

Synopsis:
A woman with a devastating secret. A man bent on proving his worth. A chance encounter that catapults them into the heart of history.
When the daughter of a prominent Roman general meets a disinherited Jewish immigrant, neither one can dream of God's plan to transform them into the most influential couple of the early church. Nor can they anticipate the mountains that will threaten to bury them. Their courtship unwittingly shadowed by murder and betrayal, Priscilla and Aquila slowly work to build a community of believers, while their lives grow increasingly complicated thanks to a shaggy dog, a mysterious runaway, and a ruthless foe desperate for love. But when they're banished from their home by a capricious emperor, they must join forces with an unusual rabbi named Paul and fight to turn treachery into redemption.
With impeccable research and vivid detail, Daughter of Rome is both an emotive love story and an immersive journey through first-century Rome and Corinth, reminding readers once again why Debbie Macomber has said that "no one brings the Bible to life like Tessa Afshar."
Why Am I Anticipating This Book?
As I mentioned above, if you have been following my blog for some time then you KNOW how much I love Tessa Afshar as a writer. She is phenomenal with creating biblical fiction based on real people from the Bible and making the stories come to life. She always draws me in, makes me cry, makes me laugh and makes these people feel more real.

I am so excited for her newest New Testament. I personally dont know much about Priscilla and Aquila so I'm excited to read this book. I find that even though I enjoy her Old Testament stories the best, her New Testament stories still pull on my heart.

I can't wait to see Paul! I've seen her write about him in both Thief of Corinth and Bread of Angels and he was well written. I'm excited to see how she makes him and if he'll be like how she "created" in the previous books.

Have you heard of her upcoming release?
Have you read any book(s) from Tessa Afshar?

Blessings,

VOTW | Isaiah 41:10 - Ever Present Help

Good morning Gems (& Gents)! This past weekend has been insane in both a good and scary way. I experienced something frightening, but in that situation I felt a sense of peace and contentment that I'd never would have experienced before if my relationship with God wasn't where it is now. As I was thinking of a verse for this week, I came across this one from the book of Isaiah and I knew this was it: Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. Such a small, yet powerful verse. This is a command and a promise from our Father whether we are in times of despair or in seasons of gladness. Though told this to the people of Israel, this verse is still true to His children today. Let's start off by breaking down some of the words in this verse shall we: Fear : the Hebrew word is  yare' meaning to cause to frighten ( affright ); to make or be afraid;...

CSB Study Bible for Women {Bible Review}

Good morning loves! I'm starting a new layout when it comes to doing my Bible reviews just because they need a more in-depth post than my book reviews. I created a new way that will help me share more info about each Bible so I hope this helps you all! Today's review is on the The Study Bible for Women in the CSB translation and I am so excited to do this review. I want to first thank B&H Publishing group for the opportunity to review this gorgeous Bible as they sent me this Bible for review. This Bible was release on April 15, 2018, so it's been out for almost a month now. I'm going to start off by sharing with you all what it says on the B&H website: Now available in the Christian Standard Bible (CSB) translation with revised and updated content and a fresh, new interior design, the CSB Study Bible for Women will equip you to reach deep into God’s Word. As the most comprehensive study Bible ever prepared for women and by women, the most powerful asp...

DOI Book Club - Fervent by Priscilla Shirer

Good morning Gems! Today, I'll be sharing with you all one of the exciting things I'll be starting in March and it's a book club! I polled on Facebook and Instagram and had you all vote and the winner was a no-brainer! This is the first Book Club that I’ll be hosting ever and I am so excited. Fervent by Priscilla Shirer won hands down! We’re jumping into the topic of prayer and I’m a big person on reading and learning all that I can about prayer. I don’t know about you all, but my prayer life has its ups and downs. Now for those of you who don’t know, Priscilla Shirer is the actress from the movie War Room ( which I HIGHLY recommend ). She wrote a book for woman based off of the movie. Here’s bit of what to expect from this phenomenal book: “You have an enemy . . . and he’s dead set on destroying all you hold dear and keeping you from experiencing abundant life in Christ. What’s more, his approach to disrupting your life and discrediting your faith isn’t gene...
