Pearl in the Sand by Tessa Afshar {10th Anniversary Edition}

Hey Gems!!! Today is a very special day for Tessa Afshar as it is the release day of her 10th anniversary edition of Pearl in the Sand.

I want to first thank Tessa and also thank Moody Publishers for allowing me to be apart of her launch team and to receive both an eARC and finished copy of this stunning book!

This is my third (or fourth) time reading this beautiful book and I'm excited to share both my reading vlog and thoughts on it with you all.

Synopsis:
Can a Canaanite harlot who made her living enticing men be a fitting wife for a leader of Israel? Shockingly, the Bible’s answer is yes.

This 10th anniversary edition of Pearl in the Sand includes new features that will invite you into the untold story of Rahab’s journey from lowly outcast to redeemed child of God. Rahab’s home is built into a wall, a wall that fortifies and protects the City of Jericho. However, other walls surround her too, walls of fear, rejection, and unworthiness… Years of pain and betrayal have wounded Rahab’s heart—she doubts whether her dreams of experiencing true love will ever come true…

A woman with a wrecked past—a man of success, of faith... of pride. A marriage only God would conceive! Through the heartaches of a stormy relationship, Rahab and Salmone learn the true source of one another’s worth and find healing in God.
My Rating:
Reading Vlog
I am a major fan of the original story (see my original review), so getting the chance to read the re-release with updated scenes and chapters was such a joy!! I could see the changes within this 10th anniversary edition. You can see the growth and changes from Tessa's debut of the book to this version.

Please understand that this book includes talk of child sacrifice (mildly), child sex, adultery and so forth. This takes place during the time of the book of Joshua.

I am still a fan of Rahab and her faith. From such a young age she denounced the pagan gods and began to feel a pull for something more. Rahab's faith was outstanding to say the least. As a character, seeing her development both spiritually and emotionally was amazing to see.

Salmone is a stubborn man. A man of God, yet he believes himself to be better than others because of his faith. Without realizing it he becomes prideful and self-righteous. I enjoyed his growth as a man.

The romance is everything to me. It gives me all the feels. Seeing their individual struggles and struggles as a couple was so interesting. Especially seeing them overcome them. I love their romance.

Joshua still rocks in this story! His words of wisdom to Salmone always make me happy. We need more men like him in books! Rahab's family always irritated me! The faith aspects were everything. I love the use of scripture, the nuggets of wisdom and the explanation of the title within the story.

This will forever be a five star read for me every time. I highly recommend it, just be prepared with tissue.

Blessings,

  2. Love this review! I agree with you so much. And it's a relief to have the healing example of Joshua in there with the growth of the other men in this story line.

VOTW | Isaiah 41:10 - Ever Present Help

Good morning Gems (& Gents)! This past weekend has been insane in both a good and scary way. I experienced something frightening, but in that situation I felt a sense of peace and contentment that I'd never would have experienced before if my relationship with God wasn't where it is now. As I was thinking of a verse for this week, I came across this one from the book of Isaiah and I knew this was it: Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. Such a small, yet powerful verse. This is a command and a promise from our Father whether we are in times of despair or in seasons of gladness. Though told this to the people of Israel, this verse is still true to His children today. Let's start off by breaking down some of the words in this verse shall we: Fear : the Hebrew word is  yare' meaning to cause to frighten ( affright ); to make or be afraid;...

CSB Study Bible for Women {Bible Review}

DOI Book Club - Fervent by Priscilla Shirer

Good morning Gems! Today, I'll be sharing with you all one of the exciting things I'll be starting in March and it's a book club! I polled on Facebook and Instagram and had you all vote and the winner was a no-brainer! This is the first Book Club that I’ll be hosting ever and I am so excited. Fervent by Priscilla Shirer won hands down! We’re jumping into the topic of prayer and I’m a big person on reading and learning all that I can about prayer. I don’t know about you all, but my prayer life has its ups and downs. Now for those of you who don’t know, Priscilla Shirer is the actress from the movie War Room ( which I HIGHLY recommend ). She wrote a book for woman based off of the movie. Here’s bit of what to expect from this phenomenal book: “You have an enemy . . . and he’s dead set on destroying all you hold dear and keeping you from experiencing abundant life in Christ. What’s more, his approach to disrupting your life and discrediting your faith isn’t gene...
