A Great Cloud of Witnesses by Trillia J. Newbell {Bible Study Review}

Hey Gems!!!

Here with my first Bible study workbook review for the year. As much as I love studying the Bible, I enjoy a great Bible study workbook/guided-study. I was excited for this release because I was able to go through this author's first study as well. I had high hopes going into this study.

Synopsis:
Rejuvenate your faith through the stories of the faithful.

Throughout Scripture we find countless stories of God’s faithfulness—we also find countless stories of the people who remained faithful to Him.

To strengthen and deepen your own faith, enter the stories of God’s imperfect yet faithful people in A Great Cloud of Witnesses, a six-week bible study by Trillia Newbell. This study dives into Hebrews 11, examining the lives of Rahab, Enoch, Gideon, Sarah, and many more whose faiths withstood the tests of their days. Each devotional invites you into the lives of ordinary people who lived by faith and concludes with reflection questions so that you can consider how your story connects with those found in Scripture. By studying the great cloud of witnesses found in Hebrews 11, and others who have gone before us, you will learn to imitate their faith while clinging to the One who is always faithful as you run the race God has set before you.
My Rating:

Trillia Newbell is a brilliant author in regards to craft such relatable and biblically sound studies. I love that she finds a chapter to focus on and help the reader get a deeper, more connected understanding of it. She dives deep into Hebrews 11 while having us read through Hebrews 10, 12 and some other Old Testament books (such as Joshua and Judges).

Even though this is a six-week study, there is an option to turn it into an eight-week study which is excellent for those who are new to this kind of devotional study or for those who want to go deeper. The introductory portion of this study is extremely useful for both seasoned and new believers.

Being that this is a devotional style Bible study its broken into five days for each week. Each week consists of the following:
  • Introduction to the week with a specific reading and questions to help you dig for a better understanding.
  • Five days with an explore section which consists of the scripture reading(s) and devotional to support thinking. Also a reflect section with questions to get your mind diving deep into the study.
This an excellent, eye-opening study for both personal and group use. I think this is great for personal reference and for churches looking to expand their Bible study.

 I can see me hosting a women's study with this workbook. Would definitely recommend!

Blessings,

DOI Book Club - Fervent by Priscilla Shirer

Good morning Gems! Today, I'll be sharing with you all one of the exciting things I'll be starting in March and it's a book club! I polled on Facebook and Instagram and had you all vote and the winner was a no-brainer! This is the first Book Club that I’ll be hosting ever and I am so excited. Fervent by Priscilla Shirer won hands down! We’re jumping into the topic of prayer and I’m a big person on reading and learning all that I can about prayer. I don’t know about you all, but my prayer life has its ups and downs. Now for those of you who don’t know, Priscilla Shirer is the actress from the movie War Room ( which I HIGHLY recommend ). She wrote a book for woman based off of the movie. Here’s bit of what to expect from this phenomenal book: “You have an enemy . . . and he’s dead set on destroying all you hold dear and keeping you from experiencing abundant life in Christ. What’s more, his approach to disrupting your life and discrediting your faith isn’t gene...

VOTW | Isaiah 41:10 - Ever Present Help

Good morning Gems (& Gents)! This past weekend has been insane in both a good and scary way. I experienced something frightening, but in that situation I felt a sense of peace and contentment that I'd never would have experienced before if my relationship with God wasn't where it is now. As I was thinking of a verse for this week, I came across this one from the book of Isaiah and I knew this was it: Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. Such a small, yet powerful verse. This is a command and a promise from our Father whether we are in times of despair or in seasons of gladness. Though told this to the people of Israel, this verse is still true to His children today. Let's start off by breaking down some of the words in this verse shall we: Fear : the Hebrew word is  yare' meaning to cause to frighten ( affright ); to make or be afraid;...
