Faith Reads Read-a-thon TBR

Hey Gems!!! Happy New Year Ladies (and Gents if you're reading)!!!! 2020 is HERE!!!
Today we are talking all about the Faith Reads read-a-thon for this month! I am so excited about this read-a-thon with you ladies!!!

This post is on my TBR picks for the prompts. Check out my IG to see my photos for the photo challenges.

Now let's get into my book picks for each prompt!

1) Read a book based on a well-known biblical person.
            ♥ Iscariot by Tosca Lee. I'm going with this book because we all know who Judas is -- the betrayer of Jesus. I want to read about him to make him seem more human than I believe he is. Both Judas and Peter were sifted by the enemy. Peter however didn't fall, but Judas did and Jesus knew it. I'm interested in seeing if this can "redeem" Judas in my eyes. Hardcover | Paperback | Kindle | Audible

2) Read a book based on a lesser-known biblical person.
            ♥ Zipporah, Wife of Moses by Marek Halter. The wife of Moses only mentioned once in Exodus (or maybe twice). Outside of her being the wife Moses and one of Jethro's daughters I don't know much about her. I'm curious to learn more about she was and see her thoughts on Moses and his ministry. Paperback | Kindle | Hardcover | Audible

3) Read a book with a title based on a book from the Bible.
            ♥ 31 Proverbs to Light Your Path by Liz Curtis Higgs. This is obvious as the book has Proverbs in it. This will be my devotional reading for the month of January as it focuses on various scriptures from Proverbs. Hardcover | Kindle | Audible
            ♥ Thief of Corinth by Tessa Afshar. This is based on Corinth which is titled 1 & 2 Corinthians in the Bible. I have read this book about two-three times already and want to try and re-read it to see if it can get a 5 star rating from me. This is the only book from Tessa Afshar that I have given a 4 star rating too. Paperback | Kindle | Hardcover | Audible

4) Read a Christian non-fiction.
            ♥ Calling and Separation by Bob Yandin. I purchased this book while at a leadership conference he spoke at. I got two of his books because I loved the way he taught the Word and was down-to-earth. I'm interested in this book and hopefully reading his other books as well. Paperback | Kindle

5) Read a book about good vs evil.
            ♥ Mind Games by Nancy Mehl. This is a romantic suspense that deals with BAU and FBI so I figured they were the good ones while we have a serial killer that's evil. Plain and simple lol. Paperback | Kindle | Hardcover | Audible

6) Read & rate a 5 star prediction.
            For this I'm going with Iscariot by Tosca Lee, Left Behind by Tim LaHaye & Jerry B. Jenkins, Mind Games by Nancy Mehl, Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis and finally Calling & Separation by Pastor Bob Yandin. I'm hopeful for these to be 5 star ratings (fingers crossed).

7) Read a Christian fiction that is not biblical.
            ♥ Mind Games by Nancy Mehl. This is romantic suspense!
            ♥ American Omens by Travis Thrasher. This is a sci-fi dystopian world set in the future. Paperback | Kindle

8) Read a book that has one of nine fruits of the spirit in the title.
            ♥ Nine Fruits of the Spirit: Love by Robert Strand. This was a HARD one to figure out -- lol. I decided to "cheat" and go with this devotional since it's focused on my word of the year. Full Set | Paperback | Hardcover

9) Read a Christian classic.
            ♥ Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis. A classic from C.S. Lewis that has been on my list and after reading The Screwtape Letters I am very hopeful for another great read from him. Paperback | Hardcover | Kindle | Audible

10) Read a recommendation.
            ♥ Left Behind by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins. This book has been recommended to me SEVERAL times from many book lovers, so I'm finally going to give it a go! Hardcover | Paperback | Kindle | Audible

I may not get to all of these books, but I still plan to get through at least 5 of these for sure!! Are you planning to partake in the read-a-thon?! What are you going to be reading this month?

Blessings,

VOTW | Isaiah 41:10 - Ever Present Help

Good morning Gems (& Gents)! This past weekend has been insane in both a good and scary way. I experienced something frightening, but in that situation I felt a sense of peace and contentment that I'd never would have experienced before if my relationship with God wasn't where it is now. As I was thinking of a verse for this week, I came across this one from the book of Isaiah and I knew this was it: Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. Such a small, yet powerful verse. This is a command and a promise from our Father whether we are in times of despair or in seasons of gladness. Though told this to the people of Israel, this verse is still true to His children today. Let's start off by breaking down some of the words in this verse shall we: Fear : the Hebrew word is  yare' meaning to cause to frighten ( affright ); to make or be afraid;

DOI Book Club - Fervent by Priscilla Shirer

Good morning Gems! Today, I'll be sharing with you all one of the exciting things I'll be starting in March and it's a book club! I polled on Facebook and Instagram and had you all vote and the winner was a no-brainer! This is the first Book Club that I’ll be hosting ever and I am so excited. Fervent by Priscilla Shirer won hands down! We’re jumping into the topic of prayer and I’m a big person on reading and learning all that I can about prayer. I don’t know about you all, but my prayer life has its ups and downs. Now for those of you who don’t know, Priscilla Shirer is the actress from the movie War Room ( which I HIGHLY recommend ). She wrote a book for woman based off of the movie. Here’s bit of what to expect from this phenomenal book: “You have an enemy . . . and he’s dead set on destroying all you hold dear and keeping you from experiencing abundant life in Christ. What’s more, his approach to disrupting your life and discrediting your faith isn’t gene

CSB Study Bible for Women {Bible Review}

Good morning loves! I'm starting a new layout when it comes to doing my Bible reviews just because they need a more in-depth post than my book reviews. I created a new way that will help me share more info about each Bible so I hope this helps you all! Today's review is on the The Study Bible for Women in the CSB translation and I am so excited to do this review. I want to first thank B&H Publishing group for the opportunity to review this gorgeous Bible as they sent me this Bible for review. This Bible was release on April 15, 2018, so it's been out for almost a month now. I'm going to start off by sharing with you all what it says on the B&H website: Now available in the Christian Standard Bible (CSB) translation with revised and updated content and a fresh, new interior design, the CSB Study Bible for Women will equip you to reach deep into God’s Word.
