Wings of the Wind by Connilyn Cossette {Book Review}

Hey Gems!!!

Happy Friday! I hope you all had a great week of work and that your weekend will be splendid! Today, I have yet another book review (book nerd problems). If you haven't already read my review of Counted with the Stars or Shadow of the Storm go do that first before reading this post!
I'm going to be sharing my thoughts on the third and final book in the Out from Egypt trilogy. I would even consider this a sort of prequel to the Cities of Refuge series.

This is by far my FAVORITE of the trilogy. I loved Alanah, I adore Shira and Kiya. Rahab made an appearance. My girl Moriyah was included which makes me basis.

Let's talk about this cover though! I love the softness of the colors used and how the models outfit blends into the clouds and it ends with that hint periwinkle...GORGEOUS cover.

Synopsis:
Alanah, a Canaanite, is no stranger to fighting and survival. When her family is killed in battle with the Hebrews, she disguises herself and sneaks onto the battlefield to avenge her family. The one thing she never counted on was surviving.
Tobiah, a Hebrew warrior, is shocked to find an unconscious, wounded woman among the Canaanite casualties. Compelled to bring her to a Hebrew healer back at their camp, he is soon confronted with a truth he can’t ignore: the only way to protect this enemy is to marry her.
Unused to being weak and vulnerable, Alanah submits to the marriage—for now. As she comes to know and respect Tobiah and his people, however, she begins to second-guess her plans of escape. But when her past has painfully unanticipated consequences, the tentative peace she’s found with Tobiah, the Hebrews, and Yahweh is shaken to the core. Can Alanah’s fierce heart and strength withstand the ensuing threats to her life and all she’s come to love?
My Rating:
I knew from the moment I decided to read this trilogy that I would love this book the most and I was correct. This is such a beautifully written biblical fiction novel. You can tell that Connilyn took time to research and study the scriptures in the way the story captivates you. I was pulled into the story by her beautiful descriptions of the location such as the wilderness, battlefield and even Jericho. It made me feel as if I was there with the characters.

Now though I LOVE Kiya and Eben from Counted With the Stars, I must say I adored Alanah and Tobiah a ton!

Alanah is a Canaanite woman who finds herself on the battlefield for revenge. Her three brothers and father have died in the battle against the Hebrews and she's set on killing a few before dying on the battlefield. Alanah is such a strong character. She definitely reminded me of Kiya, but whereas Kiya was a bit more "royal" like Alanah was more "rough." Having been raised by her father and having learned to fight with a bow, she wasn't a fragile girl. She was strong, brave, determined and beautiful inside and out. I LOVED her experience with God after seeing the Cloud and the Bronze serpent. Her experience was beautifully done!

Tobiah is a Hebrew warrior out to claim all of Canaan like God commanded. He lost his best friend in the battle and struggles getting through. Tobiah has an intimidating look about him, but he is such a sweet heart. I love his heart for God and how determined he was to be the kind of man God approved of. He protected his family and was such a gentleman.

The romance between Tobiah and Alanah is everything. Enemies to lovers kind of feel in which they are on opposites sides of the war, but end up together by Torah Law to save Alanah's life. They had their verbal spats, but together they were just beautiful. Their romance wasn't instant. The attraction was clearly there from the start, but they got a chance to know each other and really let their feelings set in.

Shira was such a sassy one in this story. I couldn't see the timid girl she used to be. So glad that she was still a midwife, but I was sad to hear about Ayal. Kiya is still as loud and silly as ever. I would have loved to see Jumo and Eben, but all the children sufficed!!

Tzipi, Tobiah's twin sister, was a piece of work. She's bossy, unforgiving and mean to Alanah at first, but towards the end she finally let's go.

I enjoyed seeing Rahab in this story! I love the story of Rahab and was glad that Connilyn interwove the story into the novel.

Moriyah is my girl!!! I adore her in the Cities of Refuge series, so this was amazing for me to read about her childhood and get the inside look at to how and when she got the mark on her face. Moriyah was a bright young girl and determined to help.

Overall, this was such a perfect conclusion to the series and a perfect beginning for A Light on the Hill. Totally recommend this book and the entire Out From Egypt trilogy.

Blessings,

VOTW | Isaiah 41:10 - Ever Present Help

Good morning Gems (& Gents)! This past weekend has been insane in both a good and scary way. I experienced something frightening, but in that situation I felt a sense of peace and contentment that I'd never would have experienced before if my relationship with God wasn't where it is now. As I was thinking of a verse for this week, I came across this one from the book of Isaiah and I knew this was it: Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. Such a small, yet powerful verse. This is a command and a promise from our Father whether we are in times of despair or in seasons of gladness. Though told this to the people of Israel, this verse is still true to His children today. Let's start off by breaking down some of the words in this verse shall we: Fear : the Hebrew word is  yare' meaning to cause to frighten ( affright ); to make or be afraid;

DOI Book Club - Fervent by Priscilla Shirer

Good morning Gems! Today, I'll be sharing with you all one of the exciting things I'll be starting in March and it's a book club! I polled on Facebook and Instagram and had you all vote and the winner was a no-brainer! This is the first Book Club that I’ll be hosting ever and I am so excited. Fervent by Priscilla Shirer won hands down! We’re jumping into the topic of prayer and I’m a big person on reading and learning all that I can about prayer. I don’t know about you all, but my prayer life has its ups and downs. Now for those of you who don’t know, Priscilla Shirer is the actress from the movie War Room ( which I HIGHLY recommend ). She wrote a book for woman based off of the movie. Here’s bit of what to expect from this phenomenal book: “You have an enemy . . . and he’s dead set on destroying all you hold dear and keeping you from experiencing abundant life in Christ. What’s more, his approach to disrupting your life and discrediting your faith isn’t gene
