40 Day Prayer Challenge: Day 32 - Praying for Friends

Good Afternoon Gems!!!

Today has been a day of rest for me. I took some time to catch up on a bit of sleep today. I pray you all had a wonderful morning. Let's dive in and talk about praying for friends today.
Most of us don't really spend time in prayer for our friends. I know if someone asks for a prayer then I will definitely intercede for them, but majority of the time if I'm not asked to pray for them I won't be consistent in doing so.

Praying for our friends is essential to the kingdom of God. Be it praying for their health, their spiritual growth or a better prayer life. Jesus taught us about serving and not being caught up in ourselves.

Praying for your friends means you are imitating Christ. It means you are taking dedicated time to step outside of your problems and circumstances to pray for the life of someone close to you.

Get specific with your prayer for them. Ask your friends what they need prayer for and set time aside to pray for them.
Journaling Prompt
Please be as true to yourself as possible when answering the prompt to get the most out of this challenge.
When was the last time you asked a friend how you can pray for them? Think of a friend and pray for them as specific and strategic as possible.
Scripture
Today's scripture comes from Ecclesiastes 4:9-12:
Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls, for he has no one to help him up. Again, if two lie down together, they will keep warm; but how can one be warm alone? Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him. And a threefold cord is not quickly broken.
Prayer Journaling
Spend 3-7 minutes journaling your thoughts, feelings and emotions. Use the prompt.

Verbal Prayer
Take 5 minutes and verbally speak your written prayer. Pray out loud so that He can hear your voice. If your prayer is short, try to add to it. Use the scripture to pray today. Pray for a friend today.

Listen
Sit quietly in a position that will not make you tired and wait on God. You may feel His presence, you may hear from Him. If you do, write down what He says or what you're feeling. Give yourself at least 2 minutes of pure silence to be able to hear from and feel God. This is a conversation, not a rant. Allow Him the opportunity to speak to you after you've spoken to Him.

Let's pray...

Heavenly Father, teach us to love others the way You first loved us. As we build relationships with others, let them see You in the extent of our generosity, the authenticity of our kindness, and the depths of our love. All of those things are only possible through You, the God who abides with us and calls us friend. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

Blessings,

VOTW | Isaiah 41:10 - Ever Present Help

Good morning Gems (& Gents)! This past weekend has been insane in both a good and scary way. I experienced something frightening, but in that situation I felt a sense of peace and contentment that I'd never would have experienced before if my relationship with God wasn't where it is now. As I was thinking of a verse for this week, I came across this one from the book of Isaiah and I knew this was it: Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. Such a small, yet powerful verse. This is a command and a promise from our Father whether we are in times of despair or in seasons of gladness. Though told this to the people of Israel, this verse is still true to His children today. Let's start off by breaking down some of the words in this verse shall we: Fear : the Hebrew word is  yare' meaning to cause to frighten ( affright ); to make or be afraid;...

DOI Book Club - Fervent by Priscilla Shirer

Good morning Gems! Today, I'll be sharing with you all one of the exciting things I'll be starting in March and it's a book club! I polled on Facebook and Instagram and had you all vote and the winner was a no-brainer! This is the first Book Club that I’ll be hosting ever and I am so excited. Fervent by Priscilla Shirer won hands down! We’re jumping into the topic of prayer and I’m a big person on reading and learning all that I can about prayer. I don’t know about you all, but my prayer life has its ups and downs. Now for those of you who don’t know, Priscilla Shirer is the actress from the movie War Room ( which I HIGHLY recommend ). She wrote a book for woman based off of the movie. Here’s bit of what to expect from this phenomenal book: “You have an enemy . . . and he’s dead set on destroying all you hold dear and keeping you from experiencing abundant life in Christ. What’s more, his approach to disrupting your life and discrediting your faith isn’t gene...
