Good morning Gems!
As we draw near to the end of week one we will now focus on the necessity of prayer. We understand that there purpose in praying, but many times we don't think about the necessity of it. I recently came across a quote from John Bunyan:
Prayer is how we serve and get to know God. It's how we bring heaven to earth. It's how we help our loved ones. We don't normally see prayer as a necessity, but rather a nicety. However, Jesus is forever the greatest example of prayer and its necessity. It doesn't matter how hard life got, how late He went sleep or busy the day was -- He made sure to pray. He knew that He needed to pray and commune with the Father.
Jesus prayed at all times. He was committed to praying. If prayer was essential for the Lord Jesus Christ, the perfect Son of God, if prayer was vital to Him, then how important is it for us? Jesus was sold out to prayer, not only so that He could speak to God, but so that He could listen to God as well.
I won't make this post long-winded, but the necessity of prayer is simple according to Ephesian 6:18
Journaling Prompt
Please be as true to yourself as possible when answering the prompt to get the most out of this challenge.
Today's scripture comes from Luke 18:1:
Spend 2-5 minutes journaling your thoughts, feelings and emotions.
Verbal Prayer
Take 2 minutes and verbally speak your written prayer. Pray out loud so that He can hear your voice. If your prayer is short, try to add to it. Pray for a desire to pray. Pray to have commitment like Jesus did to prayer.
Listen
Sit quietly in a position that will not make you tired and wait on God. You may feel His presence, you may hear from Him. If you do, write down what He says or what you're feeling. Give yourself at least two minutes of pure silence to be able to hear from and feel God. This is a conversation, not a rant. Allow Him the opportunity to speak to you after you've spoken to Him.
Let's end in prayer...

Heavenly Father, we thank You for life health and strength this morning. We pray that we may learn to pray the way Jesus did. That we will become committed to prayer. That we will pray and not lose heart. Father we understand that prayer is not about us, but about You. We understand that our prayers have the ability and power to bring heaven down to earth. May we continue this journey and grow in our prayer lives. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.
