40 Day Prayer Challenge: Day 4

Good morning Gems! I pray your weekend was amazing.

Today we are still understanding the purpose of prayer. If you thought it was asking God for stuff you’re not completely wrong. We’re supposed to ask God for our needs, but we are to also pray His will to be done over our lives. Prayer is meant for us to speak with God and build a personal relationship with Him.
Prayer is not a magic trick that can be used to summon God to our will and purpose. Prayer is not for His benefit, but for ours. We need Him. Prayer allows us to pour out our hearts to Him. It is telling Him all our fears, concerns, anxieties, and worries and holding nothing back. It is asking for things that we cannot do for ourselves and asking for His help in things that we are helpless to affect.

In prayer we are to be as vulnerable and open. Do you find that easy for you to do?

If you don't remember anything else, just remember that the purpose of prayer is to build your relationship with God and glorify Him.
Journaling Prompt
Please be as true to yourself as possible when answering the prompt to get the most out of this challenge.
Do you see prayer as a way to know God? How do your prayers build your relationship with God?
Scripture
Today's scripture comes from John 14:13-14:
And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.
Prayer Journaling
Spend 2-5 minutes journaling your thoughts, feelings and emotions.

Verbal Prayer
Take 2 minutes and verbally speak your written prayer. Pray out loud so that He can hear your voice. If your prayer is short, try to add to it. Pray for His will in your life. Prayer for a better relationship with Him.

Listen
Sit quietly in a position that will not make you tired and wait on God. You may feel His presence, you may hear from Him. If you do, write down what He says or what you're feeling. Give yourself at least two minutes of pure silence to be able to hear from and feel God. This is a conversation, not a rant. Allow Him the opportunity to speak to you after you've spoken to Him.

Have a blessed day!

Blessings,

VOTW | Isaiah 41:10 - Ever Present Help

Good morning Gems (& Gents)! This past weekend has been insane in both a good and scary way. I experienced something frightening, but in that situation I felt a sense of peace and contentment that I'd never would have experienced before if my relationship with God wasn't where it is now. As I was thinking of a verse for this week, I came across this one from the book of Isaiah and I knew this was it: Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. Such a small, yet powerful verse. This is a command and a promise from our Father whether we are in times of despair or in seasons of gladness. Though told this to the people of Israel, this verse is still true to His children today. Let's start off by breaking down some of the words in this verse shall we: Fear : the Hebrew word is  yare' meaning to cause to frighten ( affright ); to make or be afraid;

DOI Book Club - Fervent by Priscilla Shirer

Good morning Gems! Today, I'll be sharing with you all one of the exciting things I'll be starting in March and it's a book club! I polled on Facebook and Instagram and had you all vote and the winner was a no-brainer! This is the first Book Club that I’ll be hosting ever and I am so excited. Fervent by Priscilla Shirer won hands down! We’re jumping into the topic of prayer and I’m a big person on reading and learning all that I can about prayer. I don’t know about you all, but my prayer life has its ups and downs. Now for those of you who don’t know, Priscilla Shirer is the actress from the movie War Room ( which I HIGHLY recommend ). She wrote a book for woman based off of the movie. Here’s bit of what to expect from this phenomenal book: “You have an enemy . . . and he’s dead set on destroying all you hold dear and keeping you from experiencing abundant life in Christ. What’s more, his approach to disrupting your life and discrediting your faith isn’t gene
