40 Day Prayer Challenge: Day 31 - Praying for Family

Happy Sunday Gems!!!

I don't know about you, but as I'm sitting here writing this I feel like topling over. It's 4am EST as I type this. I have not been sleeping properly for the past two weeks. Granted, I always had a bad sleeping habit (since middle school -- my school was TOUGH), but now I'm just not getting much of any rest. I am looking forward to my son's spring break. Prayerfully I can get two days of pure sleep in -- LOL
Today we are going to talk about praying for our family members. Just as I did yesterday, I'm just going to give you some ideas of what and who you can pray for:
  • your spouse
  • your children
  • your parents
  • your siblings
  • other relatives
  • healthy relationship
  • be able to be a light to a family member
  • family members that are believers
  • family members that are unbelievers
  • forgiveness for one another
  • peace within the family
  • healing
  • fruits of the spirits
  • focus
Pretty simple list, but keep in mind you can get specific in your prayers for them. You can pray healing for them, you can pray that they have success at work or school and so forth. Don't be afraid to even pray for their bonds to sin to be broken.
Journaling Prompt
Please be as true to yourself as possible when answering the prompt to get the most out of this challenge.
When did you last pray for a family member -- beyond the "simple"protection prayer? Who can you pray for right now within your family?
Scripture
Today's scripture comes from Colossians 3:13-14:
Bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection.
Prayer Journaling
Spend 3-7 minutes journaling your thoughts, feelings and emotions. Use the prompt.

Verbal Prayer
Take 5 minutes and verbally speak your written prayer. Pray out loud so that He can hear your voice. If your prayer is short, try to add to it. Use the scripture to pray today. Pray for the relative you wrote down.

Listen
Sit quietly in a position that will not make you tired and wait on God. You may feel His presence, you may hear from Him. If you do, write down what He says or what you're feeling. Give yourself at least 2 minutes of pure silence to be able to hear from and feel God. This is a conversation, not a rant. Allow Him the opportunity to speak to you after you've spoken to Him.

Blessings,
