40 Day Prayer Challenge: Day 3 - The Purpose of Prayer

Good morning Gems!!!

For day three we are going to look at the purpose of prayer. Many people tend to believe that prayer has no real purpose. That it's not important whatsoever. However, prayer is a very crucial thing. Christianity is all about relationship between God and us. We discovered that prayer is simple a spiritual conversation. The purpose of prayer is for us to commune with Him.
Prayer is how we spend quality time with God. It's allows us to strengthen our relationship with the Father. Through prayer we can learn so much about God. With prayer we can bring heaven down to earth.

Many tend to look at prayer as a transactional thing. They only pray when they need His help for a specific problem. However, prayer is not transactional, it's ongoing fellowship.

Prayer is about finding the mind of God, not changing His mind or our circumstances. Prayer helps us get through. It keeps us connected to God. It gives us hope. It glorifies God and not ourselves. Prayer is all about Him and not us.
Journaling Prompt
Please be as true to yourself as possible when answering the prompt to get the most out of this challenge.
The purpose of prayer is not just to get what we want, so what is the reason you pray? Is your prayer life about glorifying God or changing His mind?
Please take this time and truthful with yourself.

Scripture
Today's scripture comes from Ephesians 3:14:
For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Prayer Journaling
Spend 2-5 minutes journaling your thoughts, feelings and emotions.
Write out ways in which you can begin to glorify God in your prayers. Ways in which you can focus your prayers on Him and not just your circumstances and things you want to change.
Verbal Prayer
Take 2 minutes and verbally speak your written prayer. Pray out loud so that He can hear your voice. If your prayer is short, try to add to it. As you pray, pray for understanding of His will and plan. Give yourself over to His purpose. Glorify Him.

Listen
Sit quietly in a position that will not make you tired and wait on God. You may feel His presence, you may hear from Him. If you do, write down what He says or what you're feeling. Give yourself at least two minutes of pure silence to be able to hear from and feel God. This is a conversation, not a rant. Allow Him the opportunity to speak to you after you've spoken to Him.

Let's pray out together.

Heavenly Father, we come to You this morning giving You all praise and honor. We glorify Your name Abba. We praise You for who You are and not what You can do or change for us. As we go through, we pray not for a change in circumstances, but we pray for Your will to be done in our lives. We pray to You believing that You know what's best for us. May we continue to pray with an understanding of why we bow down and pray to You. We give our day over to You. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

Blessings,

VOTW | Isaiah 41:10 - Ever Present Help

Good morning Gems (& Gents)! This past weekend has been insane in both a good and scary way. I experienced something frightening, but in that situation I felt a sense of peace and contentment that I'd never would have experienced before if my relationship with God wasn't where it is now. As I was thinking of a verse for this week, I came across this one from the book of Isaiah and I knew this was it: Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. Such a small, yet powerful verse. This is a command and a promise from our Father whether we are in times of despair or in seasons of gladness. Though told this to the people of Israel, this verse is still true to His children today. Let's start off by breaking down some of the words in this verse shall we: Fear : the Hebrew word is  yare' meaning to cause to frighten ( affright ); to make or be afraid;

DOI Book Club - Fervent by Priscilla Shirer

Good morning Gems! Today, I'll be sharing with you all one of the exciting things I'll be starting in March and it's a book club! I polled on Facebook and Instagram and had you all vote and the winner was a no-brainer! This is the first Book Club that I’ll be hosting ever and I am so excited. Fervent by Priscilla Shirer won hands down! We’re jumping into the topic of prayer and I’m a big person on reading and learning all that I can about prayer. I don’t know about you all, but my prayer life has its ups and downs. Now for those of you who don’t know, Priscilla Shirer is the actress from the movie War Room ( which I HIGHLY recommend ). She wrote a book for woman based off of the movie. Here’s bit of what to expect from this phenomenal book: “You have an enemy . . . and he’s dead set on destroying all you hold dear and keeping you from experiencing abundant life in Christ. What’s more, his approach to disrupting your life and discrediting your faith isn’t gene
