Great Morning Gems!!!
How was everyone's weekend? I'm extremely sleepy, but alas no rest for a while lol. I hope you are all enjoying this prayer challenge. It's a bit up and down for me, but I plan to re-do this challenge again on a more personal level with God. I think this challenge is awesome though.
Continuing on with the Lord's Prayer, we are breaking down verse 11 which says "give us this day our daily bread." This simply means we need to pray for God to give us our daily provisions. These provisions are not things we desire or want. Rather these are the things we truly need that only He can provide for us.
Prayer is for our needs and not our greed. It's not to say that we can't pray for the things we desire and want, but our prayers should not be doused in our wants, material or fleeting things.
One thing to keep in mind is that bread can be taken in its literal sense, but we should also look at figuratively.
Time for a quick word study...
Bread in Greek is artos which figuratively means divine provision; all the sustenance God supplies to yielded believers scene-by-scene to live in His preferred-will.
In order to receive daily bread from our Father we need to 1) yield to Him and 2) ask for daily bread.
I pray this blessed you today. Have a great work day!
Journaling Prompt
Please be as true to yourself as possible when answering the prompt to get the most out of this challenge.
Today's scripture comes from Matthew 6:11:
Spend 3-7 minutes journaling your thoughts, feelings and emotions. Use the prompt.
Verbal Prayer
Take 3 minutes and verbally speak your written prayer. Pray out loud so that He can hear your voice. If your prayer is short, try to add to it. Use the scripture to pray today.
Listen
Sit quietly in a position that will not make you tired and wait on God. You may feel His presence, you may hear from Him. If you do, write down what He says or what you're feeling. Give yourself at least 2 minutes of pure silence to be able to hear from and feel God. This is a conversation, not a rant. Allow Him the opportunity to speak to you after you've spoken to Him.
Let's end in prayer...

When you pray, what do you usually ask for? Do you ask Him to give you your needs? Or do you ask Him to give you your wants? Have you ever just told God to give you what He believes is best?Scripture

Heavenly Father, we come to You this morning yielding to Your will and Your way. We ask that You give us our daily bread. The divine provision that only You can provide and sustain. May we go into our day remembering that You alone are the source of all our needs. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.
