Blessed morning Gems!!!
First, I want to say I am soooo tired and ready to get off this bus!! Only five more hours to go on this thing. I know I said nine hours yesterday, but I meant fourteen and a half hours. Thank God for hotspot connections with cellphones now-a-days. This is my first trip to TN and I'm low-key trying to plot a way to visit a LifeWay since I'll be in the area for about 3 days 😂😂😂.
Anyways! Today begins week four of the 40 Day Prayer Challenge. This week we are going to focus on Jesus and His prayer life. We'll even dive into reading The Lord's Prayer as well.
Today we are going to look at Jesus and His prayer life as a whole. He made it a daily habit to spend time with God early in the morning and in the evenings. Jesus didn't play when it came to prayer. He was serious about His prayer life...so much so that the disciples asked Him to teach them.
Jesus is who we should strive to have our prayer lives like. He never neglected prayer. No matter how "busy" His schedule got, He MADE time to be alone with the Father.
When in prayer Jesus prayed for others, with others, alone and in nature. He prayed knowing and expecting an answer from God, but also with reverence knowing that God would do what's best and in His will.
Jesus, being "high" in status always prayed to God understanding His power as His Son and the sovereignty of God. He was passionate about His prayer life because He knew the real impact it could have on one's soul and that of another.
If only we could do as He did and have that same passion and drive to pray regularly for others and ourselves. Don't you agree?
Journaling Prompt
Please be as true to yourself as possible when answering the prompt to get the most out of this challenge.
Today's scripture comes from Hebrews 5:7:
Spend 3-7 minutes journaling your thoughts, feelings and emotions. Use the journaling prompt.
Verbal Prayer
Take 3 minutes and verbally speak your written prayer. Pray out loud so that He can hear your voice. If your prayer is short, try to add to it. Pray for your prayer life.
Listen
Sit quietly in a position that will not make you tired and wait on God. You may feel His presence, you may hear from Him. If you do, write down what He says or what you're feeling. Give yourself at least 2 minutes of pure silence to be able to hear from and feel God. This is a conversation, not a rant. Allow Him the opportunity to speak to you after you've spoken to Him.
Let's end in prayer...

Heavenly Father, Your Son was the perfect example of someone passionate and serious about their prayer life. May we glean from that and be able to apply His way to our own prayer lives. We desire to pray regularly, for others and with a right heart. Help us as we continue to grow and mature in our prayer lives. Light and reignite that burning desire to pray. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.
