Wonderful morning Gems!!!
Today is Saturday!!! I know for me, last thing I want to do is get up at 5am for anything, but when you need to "train" yourself into a new habit you got to do it on the weekends too. Yesterday we started week three by talking about praying in secret as part of how we pray. Today I'm going to talk about having a sincere heart when we pray.
Let's do a quick study on the word sincere.
According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary it means marked by genuineness, free of dissimulation or free from adulteration. In other words, sincere means true, honest and pure. Sincere is a synonymous to heartfelt, wholehearted and unfeigned.
With that definition we can understand that we are to come before God with a pure and honest heart, holding nothing back in prayer. A sincere heart means that our prayers will be truthful and genuine.
Nothing is hidden from God and He knows all that we need and are going through. There is no need to pretend in prayer before Him. We just need to simply pour out our hearts without being vain, pretending or holding back.
Journaling Prompt
Please be as true to yourself as possible when answering the prompt to get the most out of this challenge.
Today I have two focal scriptures. The first comes from Psalms 62:8:
Spend 3-7 minutes journaling your thoughts, feelings and emotions. Use the journaling prompt.
Verbal Prayer
Take 3-4 minutes and verbally speak your written prayer. Pray out loud so that He can hear your voice. If your prayer is short, try to add to it. Pray for you to grow a sincere heart when praying.
Listen
Sit quietly in a position that will not make you tired and wait on God. You may feel His presence, you may hear from Him. If you do, write down what He says or what you're feeling. Give yourself at least 2 minutes of pure silence to be able to hear from and feel God. This is a conversation, not a rant. Allow Him the opportunity to speak to you after you've spoken to Him.
Let's end in prayer...

Do you hold back in your prayers? Are you 100% genuine when praying? If not, why not?Scripture
Today I have two focal scriptures. The first comes from Psalms 62:8:
Trust in Him at all times, you people; pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Selah. The second scripture is a continuation from yesterday's in Matthew 6:7-8:
And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.Prayer Journaling

Heavenly Father, we thank You for being merciful. We thank You for being mighty in all Your ways. We come to You humbly understanding that we need to have a sincere heart in prayer. There is nothing we can hide from You. You know all of our needs, even the ones we aren't aware of. We need not be afraid of being vulnerable and open in prayer. We pray that our hearts learn to be true and genuine in prayer, that we don't hold anything back. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.
