40 Day Prayer Challenge: Day 11

Good evening Gems!!!

I pray your Sunday was PHENOMENAL and your Monday went well. We are still looking at the same why to prayer as yesterday...to know God through prayer. Before I even dive into the post for today I want to apologize for the late post and email. This past weekend has been hectic for me so I wasn't able to get the post and email for today ready by 5am. However, this late post can also show that you can even pray late in the day.
Okay, so now that I got that squared away, let's talk about knowing God through prayer some more.

Getting to know someone requires that you spend time with them and you mainly do that through conversation with them. We converse with our Father through prayer. Prayer allows us to get to know Him. He reveals Himself to us. He can speak a Word right to our hearts in the midst of our prayer.

Prayer is just essential in getting to know God because it requires that we take the time and effort to speak to Him sincerely and honestly. On a daily basis we speak to our spouses, children, family, friends, co-workers and etc. If you don't know something about someone you normally take time to to talk to them about it.

We do the same in prayer. We pray to the Father to reveal Himself, to show Himself to us. We speak to Him to get to know His love, His power, grace and mercy. We speak to Him to feel His love. We speak to Him and ask for direction and guidance.

I mean, there is only way to know the Father by three means...

You know Him only through Christ by way of:
  1. Prayer
  2. Bible study
  3. Worship
The most essential one of three is prayer. If we don't do any of the above we can't truly know Him. However, if we never pray we can NEVER know Him INTIMATELY. There is a difference between knowing God and knowing Him intimately.

Knowing God as the One True God is awesome, but knowing Him as Father, Friend, Provider, Protector, Lover, Comforter, Healer, Waymaker ... and the list goes on ... is so much better, but you must PRAY.

I pray this post or email blessed you even with being late.
Journaling Prompt
Please be as true to yourself as possible when answering the prompt to get the most out of this challenge.
Do you ever pray that you can know Him intimately? Do you pray for others to know Him intimately? What are some ways in which you can pray to truly know Him for yourself?
Scripture
Today's scripture comes from Ephesians 1:17-19:
That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power.
Prayer Journaling
Spend 2-5 minutes journaling your thoughts, feelings and emotions. Use the journaling prompt.

Verbal Prayer
Take 2 minutes and verbally speak your written prayer. Pray out loud so that He can hear your voice. If your prayer is short, try to add to it. Pray that your commitment to know Him better grows daily. Pray that God would grant that His people know Him more deeply.

Listen
Sit quietly in a position that will not make you tired and wait on God. You may feel His presence, you may hear from Him. If you do, write down what He says or what you're feeling. Give yourself at least two minutes of pure silence to be able to hear from and feel God. This is a conversation, not a rant. Allow Him the opportunity to speak to you after you've spoken to Him.

Blessings,

VOTW | Isaiah 41:10 - Ever Present Help

Good morning Gems (& Gents)! This past weekend has been insane in both a good and scary way. I experienced something frightening, but in that situation I felt a sense of peace and contentment that I'd never would have experienced before if my relationship with God wasn't where it is now. As I was thinking of a verse for this week, I came across this one from the book of Isaiah and I knew this was it: Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. Such a small, yet powerful verse. This is a command and a promise from our Father whether we are in times of despair or in seasons of gladness. Though told this to the people of Israel, this verse is still true to His children today. Let's start off by breaking down some of the words in this verse shall we: Fear : the Hebrew word is  yare' meaning to cause to frighten ( affright ); to make or be afraid;

DOI Book Club - Fervent by Priscilla Shirer

Good morning Gems! Today, I'll be sharing with you all one of the exciting things I'll be starting in March and it's a book club! I polled on Facebook and Instagram and had you all vote and the winner was a no-brainer! This is the first Book Club that I’ll be hosting ever and I am so excited. Fervent by Priscilla Shirer won hands down! We’re jumping into the topic of prayer and I’m a big person on reading and learning all that I can about prayer. I don’t know about you all, but my prayer life has its ups and downs. Now for those of you who don’t know, Priscilla Shirer is the actress from the movie War Room ( which I HIGHLY recommend ). She wrote a book for woman based off of the movie. Here’s bit of what to expect from this phenomenal book: “You have an enemy . . . and he’s dead set on destroying all you hold dear and keeping you from experiencing abundant life in Christ. What’s more, his approach to disrupting your life and discrediting your faith isn’t gene
