2019 Reading Challenge

Hey Gems!!!

This post is one that should have been written and posted back in January, but better late than never. I shared in December via my Facebook group that I was going to do a 52-week reading challenge that was faith-based.
What is it?
The 52 week reading challenge is a reading challenge all about intentional faith-based reading. It focuses on reading books that will edify for your spirit and help you in your faith walk. It's about maturing and growing in God and in His Word by reading things that build character and help us bear fruit.

Why join?
Are you trying to get into reading more books? Do you enjoy reading? Do you want to grow in Christian maturity this year? Are you tired of secular books leaving an impact on you that puts you in the way of temptation?

This challenge is for you! Anyone who is a follower of Christ and desires to be more intentional with their reading.

How does it work?
I wanted this challenge to be fun, but intentional so there are 4 different levels to choose from:
  • Level 1 - read 1 book every 4 weeks resulting in a total of 13 books read.
  • Level 2 - read 1 book every 2 weeks resulting in a total of 26 books read.
  • Level 3 - read 1 book every week resulting in a total of 52 books read.
  • Level 4 - free spirit reader. Read as many or as little as you desire.
There are 52 prompts for this challenge to help you select books on your shelf or books that are new to you. You don't have to complete all 52 prompts with 52 individual books. One book can complete several different prompts at once.

Important to understand that ALL media types are acceptable for this challenge:
  • audiobook
  • ebook
  • hardcover
  • paperback
As long as you are reading a book, that's all that matters.

Here are the prompts for the reading challenge:
Once again, you can pick and choose your prompts you want to do. You can set your reading list or pick books as you go along. There are no real rules except for three:
  1. Have fun.
  2. Be intentional.
  3. Keep it faith related.
The goal of this challenge is to have fun and be intentional. Don't stress yourself trying to complete all the prompts. Pick and choose the ones that work for you.

One tip I do have: interact with your books! Highlight, annotate, mark and take notes of what your reading. Also keep your Bible handy to cross reference or lookup scriptures shared in your book(s). That helps with you being intentional with your reading.

I hope you join me for this challenge. Many of you have already joined in and I'm so excited about it! Don't forget the hashtags: #DOIReadingChallenge #DOIRead52 #DaughterOfIncrease if you share on social media!

Blessings,
