Synopsis:
All spiritual disciplines take practice to incorporate into our daily lives, but two can be particularly difficult to cultivate today: simplicity and silence. We live in a time when so much is vying for our attention--noise has become our natural habitat and distraction is a common companion. But God encourages us to seek him and meet with him, uninterrupted. So how do we put these disciplines into practice?
This Bible study will help you focus on what the Lord is saying to you in the midst of the clutter of daily life. It could mean a reordering of priorities, but the take-away is worth it. Simplicity and silence are daily practices that will form the foundation for a life of spiritual fruitfulness.
My Rating:
Are you able to keep things simple and remain silent? I know for myself this a hard task. I don't like to be quiet, but I know in my relationship with God and that of Christ and the Holy Spirit, silence is a necessity. Sometimes being silent is the key to getting things done. This really makes you look at your life and change the areas that need to be changed to put these practices into real action.

This is a simple Bible study, but it's not a lighthearted one. If you cannot take being put in "your position" then this may make you cry. There were moments when I felt like I had a friend standing next to me yelling to have a more simple life and be comfortable in silence. I enjoyed the prayers the most for this study because they prompted me to really pray and speak with God about some important things I've held off on praying about.

This study is broken into two parts giving equal focus to both silence and simplicity. Each section has four chapters and each chapter is further broken down into a study, questions, things to ponder on, prayer, application and an important take-away. There are also a ton of quotes thrown throughout that are very insightful and very motivational.

This study works as a companion to the Everyday Matters Bible for Women so there will be references to articles from within the Bible. As a companion study to the Bible it allows you to get more use of the Bible and all it's features. I love the references to all of the articles within the Bible and how they help the Bible studies really allow for me to utilize the Bible more than I would have on my own.

I am so glad that they have combined simplicity and silence together into one study. Not only has it begun to help me grow in a massive way. This Bible study also has helped me get back into truly using my prayer journal. I truly love this Bible study and I cannot wait to finish it!!

Blessings,

VOTW | Isaiah 41:10 - Ever Present Help

Good morning Gems (& Gents)! This past weekend has been insane in both a good and scary way. I experienced something frightening, but in that situation I felt a sense of peace and contentment that I'd never would have experienced before if my relationship with God wasn't where it is now. As I was thinking of a verse for this week, I came across this one from the book of Isaiah and I knew this was it: Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. Such a small, yet powerful verse. This is a command and a promise from our Father whether we are in times of despair or in seasons of gladness. Though told this to the people of Israel, this verse is still true to His children today. Let's start off by breaking down some of the words in this verse shall we: Fear : the Hebrew word is  yare' meaning to cause to frighten ( affright ); to make or be afraid;

DOI Book Club - Fervent by Priscilla Shirer

Good morning Gems! Today, I'll be sharing with you all one of the exciting things I'll be starting in March and it's a book club! I polled on Facebook and Instagram and had you all vote and the winner was a no-brainer! This is the first Book Club that I’ll be hosting ever and I am so excited. Fervent by Priscilla Shirer won hands down! We’re jumping into the topic of prayer and I’m a big person on reading and learning all that I can about prayer. I don’t know about you all, but my prayer life has its ups and downs. Now for those of you who don’t know, Priscilla Shirer is the actress from the movie War Room ( which I HIGHLY recommend ). She wrote a book for woman based off of the movie. Here’s bit of what to expect from this phenomenal book: “You have an enemy . . . and he’s dead set on destroying all you hold dear and keeping you from experiencing abundant life in Christ. What’s more, his approach to disrupting your life and discrediting your faith isn’t gene
