Synopsis:
What would change if you really understood all that God has done and is doing for you?
Sure we know in our head that God is for us, that there’s great hope in his relationship with us and salvation for us, but sometimes these truths can be hard to believe in the midst of exhaustion, busyness, and a world of spiritual and physical opposition. If God Is For Us is a devotional Bible Study on Romans 8 designed to cement in your soul the great truths of our salvation and an understanding for how the Holy Spirit guides our new life in the Spirit, all found in this beloved chapter of Scripture.
Why just the one chapter? The simple answer: there’s so much there! It’s no wonder that so many Christians list Romans among their favorite books of the Bible and Romans 8 as their favorite in the book. Romans is packed with profound truth after profound truth which are then followed up with life-changing promise after life-changing promise. In this 6-week study, Trillia Newbell will walk you through Romans 8 and help you cement deep inside yourself the scandalous truths of our great salvation, our inheritance, the assurance of our faith, and ultimately the love of our good Father.
Each week will include:
  • 5 daily readings out of Romans
  • A devotional for each daily reading
  • Questions for reflection and study
If you’ve experienced the comfort of Romans 8 before, but want to plant it more deeply in your person this is the Bible Study for you. And it’s great for individual or group settings.
If you’re ready to live a life that shouts: “God is for me, who can be against me,” let’s get started today.
My Rating:
I enjoy a good Bible study like the next person. Especially ones that are set up in in a devotional style in which you take a week to dive deep into a book or topic. If God Is For Us focuses mainly on Romans 8, but for the first week there are assignments to read chapters 1-7 to fully understand what chapter 8 is about. I love that this study doesn't just jump headfirst without giving background information. I believe knowing what previous chapters say is crucial to any study or reading of the word.

Once you get done with week 1, weeks 2-6 focus on chapter 8 in sections. I believe taking a chapter and breaking down by paragraph or verses helps you to be able to dissect and better understand what it is saying. Each week is setup with core Bible study questions and then breaks into five days of reading, exploring and reflecting. I believe this system of Bible study is useful for those who are new to studying the Word and those who have been for years.

The study itself is actually really enjoyable, fun and resourceful to understandings Romans 8. I believe that Trillia did a fantastic job in crafting a Bible study that allows you to connect with scripture, reflect on your life in relation to scripture and how to apply it to your life.

This is great for a personal study and even better for a group study. Definitely a great one to have and not so long to do.

Blessings,

DOI Book Club - Fervent by Priscilla Shirer

Good morning Gems! Today, I'll be sharing with you all one of the exciting things I'll be starting in March and it's a book club! I polled on Facebook and Instagram and had you all vote and the winner was a no-brainer! This is the first Book Club that I’ll be hosting ever and I am so excited. Fervent by Priscilla Shirer won hands down! We’re jumping into the topic of prayer and I’m a big person on reading and learning all that I can about prayer. I don’t know about you all, but my prayer life has its ups and downs. Now for those of you who don’t know, Priscilla Shirer is the actress from the movie War Room ( which I HIGHLY recommend ). She wrote a book for woman based off of the movie. Here’s bit of what to expect from this phenomenal book: “You have an enemy . . . and he’s dead set on destroying all you hold dear and keeping you from experiencing abundant life in Christ. What’s more, his approach to disrupting your life and discrediting your faith isn’t gene...

VOTW | Isaiah 41:10 - Ever Present Help

Good morning Gems (& Gents)! This past weekend has been insane in both a good and scary way. I experienced something frightening, but in that situation I felt a sense of peace and contentment that I'd never would have experienced before if my relationship with God wasn't where it is now. As I was thinking of a verse for this week, I came across this one from the book of Isaiah and I knew this was it: Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. Such a small, yet powerful verse. This is a command and a promise from our Father whether we are in times of despair or in seasons of gladness. Though told this to the people of Israel, this verse is still true to His children today. Let's start off by breaking down some of the words in this verse shall we: Fear : the Hebrew word is  yare' meaning to cause to frighten ( affright ); to make or be afraid;...
