Synopsis:
One of the greatest marks of a life of transformed by Jesus is the ability to forgive and reconcile with one another. That mean it's easy, and sometimes true forgiveness can be one of the toughest things we'll ever do. But it can also be the most freeing.
The studies in this book examine challenges we face as we try to forgive and reconcile with those who have hurt us. Let's face it--sometimes it's easier to be hurt or angry, to hold onto our sense of justice and pride, rather than let go. But both forgiveness and reconciliation are disciplines necessary for the spiritual health of individuals and communities. In practicing them, we see the reality of God's forgiveness and his offer of reconciliation to us.
If you've ever experienced the hurt of not being forgiven, if you've ever struggled to forgive someone who wronged you, or if you have trouble acknowledging God's forgiveness in your life, this study is for you.
My Rating:
Forgiveness and reconciliation are essential and pretty much key to the Christian life. We are told to forgive those who hurt us to be forgiven by the Father. We are reconciled because of Christ's sacrifice. We learn these things in church, but many of us don't abide by them. This study breaks down each practice with scriptural references that allows you to further understand each.

This study is broken into two parts giving equal focus to both forgiveness and reconciliation. Each section has four chapters and each chapter is further broken down into a study, questions, things to ponder on, prayer, application and an important take-away. There are also a ton of quotes thrown throughout that are very insightful and very motivational.

The study on forgiveness was the strongest study of the two because I could really connect to it. Forgiveness is something I struggle with a lot and the questions within this study helped me get to the root of some things. The prayers allowed me to pray deeper then I've prayed before. The questions got personal and real which I love in a good Bible study.

The study on reconciliation was just as good as the one on forgiveness. The questions were great. The prayers were strong. I didn't connect as much to the study as I understand reconciliation, but it was still a study that helped me brush up on my understanding and ways to apply it into my life daily.

This study works as a companion to the Everyday Matters Bible for Women so there will be references to articles from within the Bible. As a companion study to the Bible it allows you to get more use of the Bible and all it's features. I love the references to all of the articles within the Bible and how they help the Bible studies really allow for me to utilize the Bible more than I would have on my own.

Forgiveness and reconciliation are needed in our every day lives and sometimes we forget, but a study like this would be like a friend -- reminding you to check in on yourself about both in reference and context of your life. Great study!

Blessings,

DOI Book Club - Fervent by Priscilla Shirer

Good morning Gems! Today, I'll be sharing with you all one of the exciting things I'll be starting in March and it's a book club! I polled on Facebook and Instagram and had you all vote and the winner was a no-brainer! This is the first Book Club that I’ll be hosting ever and I am so excited. Fervent by Priscilla Shirer won hands down! We’re jumping into the topic of prayer and I’m a big person on reading and learning all that I can about prayer. I don’t know about you all, but my prayer life has its ups and downs. Now for those of you who don’t know, Priscilla Shirer is the actress from the movie War Room ( which I HIGHLY recommend ). She wrote a book for woman based off of the movie. Here’s bit of what to expect from this phenomenal book: “You have an enemy . . . and he’s dead set on destroying all you hold dear and keeping you from experiencing abundant life in Christ. What’s more, his approach to disrupting your life and discrediting your faith isn’t gene...

VOTW | Isaiah 41:10 - Ever Present Help

Good morning Gems (& Gents)! This past weekend has been insane in both a good and scary way. I experienced something frightening, but in that situation I felt a sense of peace and contentment that I'd never would have experienced before if my relationship with God wasn't where it is now. As I was thinking of a verse for this week, I came across this one from the book of Isaiah and I knew this was it: Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. Such a small, yet powerful verse. This is a command and a promise from our Father whether we are in times of despair or in seasons of gladness. Though told this to the people of Israel, this verse is still true to His children today. Let's start off by breaking down some of the words in this verse shall we: Fear : the Hebrew word is  yare' meaning to cause to frighten ( affright ); to make or be afraid;...
