Synopsis:
The Everyday Matters Bible Studies for Women series explores twenty-four spiritual disciplines rooted in God's word, geared to draw us closer to him and enrich spiritual formation. But of those twenty-four, two in particular are in danger of becoming far too seasonal in our faith life.
Both fasting and stewardship are all too often brushed aside and held at a distance to practice at some point. Yet these two "holy habits" are far richer and more valuable than we often allow. Both call us to focus on doing God's will rather than our own, acknowledging the resources he has given us and responding in supplication and gratitude. Learn from Scripture and spiritual giants who have gone before us how fasting is part of the way we express our dependence on God, how being a steward is really about reflecting God's glory with our lives, and how integral these two spiritual practices are to the Christian's walk.
My Rating:
I am personally on a journey to both stewarding well over the things God has given me. I am also working on making the practice of fasting apart of my life more often. This Bible study is PERFECT for me as it focuses on both of these topics in one. Though this Bible study seems short, it still packs a punch and gives you some things to think about in your life.

This study is broken into two parts giving equal focus to both fasting and stewardship. Each section has four chapters and each chapter is further broken down into a study, questions, things to ponder on, prayer, application and an important take-away. There are also a ton of quotes thrown throughout that are very insightful and very motivational.

My favorite of the two studies had to be the one on fasting. Though the chapters were short I was able to finish each getting a lot of knowledge on what it means to fast and its impact on my life. The questions allowed me to dig deep and get a grip on how to fast with the right heart and mind. Explained in-depth how fasting is to be intentional. Don't get me wrong, the study on stewardship was really good, but I connected more so with fasting because of the spiritual growth I'm experiencing. Both studies are great references to use in a personal study and for a group setting. Both also equally have an amazing amount of scripture references.

This study works as a companion to the Everyday Matters Bible for Women so there will be references to articles from within the Bible. As a companion study to the Bible it allows you to get more use of the Bible and all it's features. I love the references to all of the articles within the Bible and how they help the Bible studies really allow for me to utilize the Bible more than I would have on my own.

I truly enjoy this study and can't wait to share it with the women in my church. I am learning so much about fasting and stewardship.

Blessings,

DOI Book Club - Fervent by Priscilla Shirer

Good morning Gems! Today, I'll be sharing with you all one of the exciting things I'll be starting in March and it's a book club! I polled on Facebook and Instagram and had you all vote and the winner was a no-brainer! This is the first Book Club that I’ll be hosting ever and I am so excited. Fervent by Priscilla Shirer won hands down! We’re jumping into the topic of prayer and I’m a big person on reading and learning all that I can about prayer. I don’t know about you all, but my prayer life has its ups and downs. Now for those of you who don’t know, Priscilla Shirer is the actress from the movie War Room ( which I HIGHLY recommend ). She wrote a book for woman based off of the movie. Here’s bit of what to expect from this phenomenal book: “You have an enemy . . . and he’s dead set on destroying all you hold dear and keeping you from experiencing abundant life in Christ. What’s more, his approach to disrupting your life and discrediting your faith isn’t gene...

VOTW | Isaiah 41:10 - Ever Present Help

Good morning Gems (& Gents)! This past weekend has been insane in both a good and scary way. I experienced something frightening, but in that situation I felt a sense of peace and contentment that I'd never would have experienced before if my relationship with God wasn't where it is now. As I was thinking of a verse for this week, I came across this one from the book of Isaiah and I knew this was it: Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. Such a small, yet powerful verse. This is a command and a promise from our Father whether we are in times of despair or in seasons of gladness. Though told this to the people of Israel, this verse is still true to His children today. Let's start off by breaking down some of the words in this verse shall we: Fear : the Hebrew word is  yare' meaning to cause to frighten ( affright ); to make or be afraid;...
