Waiting on Wednesday | Of Fire and Lions by Mesu Andrews

Hey Gems! I am back for another WoW (waiting on Wednesday) posts. For those who missed my last one I'll just tell you a bit about what Waiting on Wednesday is about.

Waiting on Wednesday was originally created by Jill from Breaking the Spine back in 2008. It's basically a weekly post in which you spotlight a soon-to-be-released book (or books) that you're anticipating. I used to do this type of posts back in 2013 quiet often on my book blog, but never once on this blog, so I decided to add it to one of my weekly post ideas!

Now that we have that done, let's dive into the book I am patiently and excitedly waiting to be released...

Title: Of Fire and Lions

Author: Mesu Andrews

Series: Prophets and Kings #2

Age: Adult

Genres: Biblical Fiction

Expected Publication Date: May 5, 2019

Publisher: WaterBrook & Multnomah

Pre-OrderPaperbackKindleB&N | ChristianBook

Synopsis:
The Old Testament book of Daniel comes to life in this novel for readers of Lynn Austin's Chronicles of the Kings series or Francine Rivers' Mark of the Lion series.
Survival. A Hebrew girl first tasted it when she escaped death nearly seventy years ago as the Babylonians ransacked Jerusalem and took their finest as captives. She thought she'd perfected in the many years amongst the Magoi and the idol worshippers, pretending with all the others in King Nebuchadnezzar's court. Now, as Daniel's wife and a septuagenarian matriarch, Belili thinks she's safe and she can live out her days in Babylon without fear--until the night Daniel is escorted to Belshazzar's palace to interpret mysterious handwriting on a wall. The Persian Army invades, and Bellili's tightly-wound secrets unfurl with the arrival of the conquering army. What will the reign of Darius mean for Daniel, a man who prays to Yahweh alone?
Ultimately, Yahweh's sovereign hand guides Jerusalem's captives, and the frightened Hebrew girl is transformed into a confident woman, who realizes her need of the God who conquers both fire and lions.
Why Am I Anticipating This Book?
I have read Isaiah's Daughter by Mesu Andrews and gave that a five star rating, so when I  heard she was coming out with a new book I just knew I needed to read it. I was able to get a copy of the first two chapters (get your sample here) and I was BLOWN away. It follows the wife of Daniel during the time Persian invasion and I just loved it all. Just from reading the first two chapters, I can see that Belili has some secrets, hidden wounds and family drama with her children.

I want to learn more about Belili and her strength. They way she commanded her family and began to speak in chapter two excited me. I love the scripture references at the beginning of each chapter because it gives for some detailed background information and biblical truth concerning the chapter.

There is something about Mesu Andrews writing that pulls me into the story with these people from the biblical error. I am so excited to get my hands on this book and find out more!

If this sounds intriguing I'd say add it to your Goodreads!

Blessings,

DOI Book Club - Fervent by Priscilla Shirer

Good morning Gems! Today, I'll be sharing with you all one of the exciting things I'll be starting in March and it's a book club! I polled on Facebook and Instagram and had you all vote and the winner was a no-brainer! This is the first Book Club that I’ll be hosting ever and I am so excited. Fervent by Priscilla Shirer won hands down! We’re jumping into the topic of prayer and I’m a big person on reading and learning all that I can about prayer. I don’t know about you all, but my prayer life has its ups and downs. Now for those of you who don’t know, Priscilla Shirer is the actress from the movie War Room ( which I HIGHLY recommend ). She wrote a book for woman based off of the movie. Here’s bit of what to expect from this phenomenal book: “You have an enemy . . . and he’s dead set on destroying all you hold dear and keeping you from experiencing abundant life in Christ. What’s more, his approach to disrupting your life and discrediting your faith isn’t gene...

VOTW | Isaiah 41:10 - Ever Present Help

Good morning Gems (& Gents)! This past weekend has been insane in both a good and scary way. I experienced something frightening, but in that situation I felt a sense of peace and contentment that I'd never would have experienced before if my relationship with God wasn't where it is now. As I was thinking of a verse for this week, I came across this one from the book of Isaiah and I knew this was it: Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. Such a small, yet powerful verse. This is a command and a promise from our Father whether we are in times of despair or in seasons of gladness. Though told this to the people of Israel, this verse is still true to His children today. Let's start off by breaking down some of the words in this verse shall we: Fear : the Hebrew word is  yare' meaning to cause to frighten ( affright ); to make or be afraid;...
