In this epic Biblical narrative, ideal for fans of The Bible miniseries, a young woman taken into the prophet Isaiah's household rises to capture the heart of the future king.
Isaiah adopts Ishma, giving her a new name—Zibah, delight of the Lord—thereby ensuring her royal pedigree. Ishma came to the prophet's home, devastated after watching her family destroyed and living as a captive. But as the years pass, Zibah's lively spirit wins Prince Hezekiah's favor, a boy determined to rebuild the kingdom his father has nearly destroyed. But loving this man will awake in her all the fears and pain of her past and she must turn to the only One who can give life, calm her fears, and deliver a nation.
My Rating:
My God! Where do I even begin with this story? First, this is my very first Christian novel. I used to dislike Christian fiction because I always came across Amish novels that were just different to my liking as far as romance. It wasn't until a few days ago, that I decided to read more Christian fiction and less of my paranormal and erotic romance novels. Mesu Andrews came up in a search and I decided to download a BUNCH of her novels. I am so glad I did!

Isaiah's Daughter is a book I came across several times from the publisher and different review programs, but I always opted out of reviewing it. I'm so glad I gave this book a try. It's centered around the Prophet Isaiah and King Hezekiah from the OT (the Kings, Chronicles and Isaiah in the Bible). This book was absolutely flawless to me. The book read seamlessly, the writing was simply perfect -- it pulled me in to the scenes with the characters. The dialogue between characters were heartfelt. There was romance in the air and action to be read. I LOVED the scriptures and how much it flowed within the book. Mesu definitely did her research and really knows how to use scripture correctly to create a profound fictional story.

The story centers around 3 main characters: Ishma, Isaiah and Hezekiah. I enjoyed seeing the story through all of their eyes and seeing the stories from the Bible come alive in my mind.

Ishma is an orphan girl from Bethlehem. Her city was destroyed, her family killed and she was taken captive. She witnessed much at a young age. She was devastated and broken until she came to live with the prophet Isaiah. As she grew and lived with Isaiah, she came to learn more about Yahweh and began to become a lively girl again with such a beautiful spirit. Ishma (meaning desolation) is later renamed Hephzibah aka Zibah (meaning my delight is in her). With her new name she becomes bolder in God, settled in herself and remains a woman with such a beautiful spirit. I loved her from beginning to end. She endured much, but handled it all with grace and elegance. She was a strong woman!!

Isaiah was the prophet to King Ahaz until he spoke out of things the king didn't like and was demoted to a teacher. Isaiah was a mighty man of Yahweh who never stopped doing the will of God. He was courageous, faithful and kept true to Yahweh despite all that took place. His faith was mighty, his obedience perfect. I loved seeing him as a prophet, but also loved seeing him as a man who was loved by his family and friends. I adored him for adopting Ishma as his own daughter. He never thought of himself, but others as long as it was within the will of God. Isaiah was such a loving father and faithful servant to God.

Hezekiah aka Hezi was the prince of Judah. He witnessed terrible things as a child concerning his father offering his older brother up to the god Molek. Hezekiah became devastated and broken, but it wasn't until he met little Ishma that he got better and did better. I absolutely loved Hezekiah! He was a man of merit. Very different from his father. He had a pure heart, though his actions weren't always correct. Hezekiah was a strong man, great ruler, loving husband and phenomenal friend.

The romance between little Ishma and Prince Hezi was absolutely amazing! Their love was true love and God ordained. I loved seeing them grow together as children, come of age and deal with struggles and rule Judah as equals. They were so real with one another whenever they had problems. They never let the other take rule over them. They worked together, shared themselves and really was bound by love. I just loved their marriage!

Aya, Yaira, Samuel, Amram and Jashub were all phenomenal! Aya was amazing to Zibah from beginning to end like a mother. Yaira was a true best-friend. Samuel and Amram were the best guards and friends for both Hezekiah and Zibah. Jashub was an awesome brother to Zibah! I just loved them all.

King Ahaz and Queen Abijah were pitiful to me. I disliked King Ahaz and how evil he was to his own kids, but I also felt extremely bad for him as well because I could tell that he wanted more, but was so caught up spiritual bondage to the gods he chose to serve instead of Yahweh. Queen Abijah was just as terrible as King Ahaz. She was manipulative and sought to keep her son to herself. I was happy to see Abijah act differently towards the end...she looked like a true mother who loved her child.

Overall, if you're looking for an awesome Christian fiction with action, romance and history then DEFINITELY grab this book! You wont put it down until you're finished with it!

Go grab a copy!

VOTW | Isaiah 41:10 - Ever Present Help

Good morning Gems (& Gents)! This past weekend has been insane in both a good and scary way. I experienced something frightening, but in that situation I felt a sense of peace and contentment that I'd never would have experienced before if my relationship with God wasn't where it is now. As I was thinking of a verse for this week, I came across this one from the book of Isaiah and I knew this was it: Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. Such a small, yet powerful verse. This is a command and a promise from our Father whether we are in times of despair or in seasons of gladness. Though told this to the people of Israel, this verse is still true to His children today. Let's start off by breaking down some of the words in this verse shall we: Fear : the Hebrew word is  yare' meaning to cause to frighten ( affright ); to make or be afraid;

DOI Book Club - Fervent by Priscilla Shirer

Good morning Gems! Today, I'll be sharing with you all one of the exciting things I'll be starting in March and it's a book club! I polled on Facebook and Instagram and had you all vote and the winner was a no-brainer! This is the first Book Club that I’ll be hosting ever and I am so excited. Fervent by Priscilla Shirer won hands down! We’re jumping into the topic of prayer and I’m a big person on reading and learning all that I can about prayer. I don’t know about you all, but my prayer life has its ups and downs. Now for those of you who don’t know, Priscilla Shirer is the actress from the movie War Room ( which I HIGHLY recommend ). She wrote a book for woman based off of the movie. Here’s bit of what to expect from this phenomenal book: “You have an enemy . . . and he’s dead set on destroying all you hold dear and keeping you from experiencing abundant life in Christ. What’s more, his approach to disrupting your life and discrediting your faith isn’t gene
