Synopsis:
Imagine knowing you only have several more hours to live. Picture the faces of your loved ones gathered around you. Allow the emotions to rise up in your heart.
What would you say?
John 13–17 records Jesus’ last words to the disciples before His death, revealing what was most important to Him. When we study those words and prayers today, we enter deep into the heart of Jesus and come away changed: overwhelmed by the love of God, inspired to follow Him, and empowered to spread the gospel.
His Last Words is an 7-week Bible study that plumbs the depths of Jesus’ final teachings to the disciples. It features:
  • a verse-by-verse study of John 13–17 and portions of John 18–21
  • give lessons each week, one set aside for reflection and prayer
  • discussion questions for small groups
  • two weeks for review, reflection, and application
  • and more
Jesus’ last words are words of eternal life—powerful and full of love. If you’ve been longing for more intimacy in your relationship with God, more meaning in your life, and more boldness in your witness, His Last Words will draw you into just what you need: the Word of God.
My Rating:
As a lover of the gospel of John -- no seriously it's my favorite book of the Bible -- I just had to check out this Bible study for myself. First off, I loved the personal touch that Kim included by sharing her story of her 3 year old. That touched my heart. I thought it was a great way to dive into the study of the Jesus' last words. This is a Bible study that focuses more so on writing and journaling, but it helps you to really understand and breakdown the scriptures for better understanding.

This is a beautiful 7 week study that has 5 days of work each week. Though this a study of John 13-17, you will find that she dives into other parts of John as well. Days 1-4 you begin with a specified reading from John and then a chart to fill out that includes the scriptures and an area to write down what it tells you about God. I think that is a great way to bring the purpose of scripture back to it's main focus -- God. Following that there are some questions to reflect on the scripture and really get your mind going about it. Questions range from reading other scriptures in the Bible to personal ones. After that you close it out with a prayer. For day 5 you review, reflect and pray.

At the end of the week there are discussion questions that I think are perfect for journaling about or if you want to study along with other women you know. These questions are a bit more personal and even include reading more scriptures.

I think this is a Bible study that should be one your shelf. It's organized, personal and contains a lot of scripture to help you understand the text of John 13-17. I plan to lead a women's Bible study in July on the gospel of John, so I am excited to share this study with the ladies that are going to join me. Definitely a great buy!

Go grab a copy!

VOTW | Isaiah 41:10 - Ever Present Help

Good morning Gems (& Gents)! This past weekend has been insane in both a good and scary way. I experienced something frightening, but in that situation I felt a sense of peace and contentment that I'd never would have experienced before if my relationship with God wasn't where it is now. As I was thinking of a verse for this week, I came across this one from the book of Isaiah and I knew this was it: Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. Such a small, yet powerful verse. This is a command and a promise from our Father whether we are in times of despair or in seasons of gladness. Though told this to the people of Israel, this verse is still true to His children today. Let's start off by breaking down some of the words in this verse shall we: Fear : the Hebrew word is  yare' meaning to cause to frighten ( affright ); to make or be afraid;...

DOI Book Club - Fervent by Priscilla Shirer

Good morning Gems! Today, I'll be sharing with you all one of the exciting things I'll be starting in March and it's a book club! I polled on Facebook and Instagram and had you all vote and the winner was a no-brainer! This is the first Book Club that I’ll be hosting ever and I am so excited. Fervent by Priscilla Shirer won hands down! We’re jumping into the topic of prayer and I’m a big person on reading and learning all that I can about prayer. I don’t know about you all, but my prayer life has its ups and downs. Now for those of you who don’t know, Priscilla Shirer is the actress from the movie War Room ( which I HIGHLY recommend ). She wrote a book for woman based off of the movie. Here’s bit of what to expect from this phenomenal book: “You have an enemy . . . and he’s dead set on destroying all you hold dear and keeping you from experiencing abundant life in Christ. What’s more, his approach to disrupting your life and discrediting your faith isn’t gene...
