Today's post is a video review on the ESV Archaeology Study Bible. I received this Bible for free in exchange for an honest review through the Crossway Blog Review Program. I want to thank the people over at Crossway for this opportunity.
Here's what Crossway says:
The ESV Archaeology Study Bible is a cutting-edge academic resource for those looking to dig deeper into the historical context of the Bible. It features study notes written by field-trained Biblical archaeologists and scholars, color maps, photographs, and drawings- all designed to bring life to the ancient text of Scripture. With editorial oversight from Dr. John Currid (PhD, University of Chicago) and Dr. David Chapman (PhD, University of Cambridge), the ESV Archaeology Study Bible assembles a range of modern scholarship, helping readers situate themselves in the Bible's historical context by recognizing the truth that the eternal God became flesh entered human history at a specific time and in a specific place.
This Bible contains so many awesome features. The basic ESV concordance and maps are standard. Since this is a study Bible it contains over 2,000+ study notes in 8pt font. There are 700+ full-color maps and photos, 15+ articles, each book of the Bible has an introduction, there are footnotes and cross references.This is a two-column Bible with all black letter 9pt font text. It contains a total of 2624 pages.
I've always wanted a study Bible that focused on archaeology, but I would get overwhelmed with the many that are out there on the market. Getting this beauty was a blessing because it helped me make a quick decision. I must say, I absolutely LOVE this Bible. The photographs included in this are amazing. The 100 various maps and articles are all so helpful as well. This Bible also contains a good amount of cross references. My only gripe -- no bookmark! I wish this had at least one, if not two, ribbon bookmarks.
I totally recommend this Bible! You will find it useful during your studies and fun to look at.
Good morning Gems (& Gents)! This past weekend has been insane in both a good and scary way. I experienced something frightening, but in that situation I felt a sense of peace and contentment that I'd never would have experienced before if my relationship with God wasn't where it is now. As I was thinking of a verse for this week, I came across this one from the book of Isaiah and I knew this was it: Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. Such a small, yet powerful verse. This is a command and a promise from our Father whether we are in times of despair or in seasons of gladness. Though told this to the people of Israel, this verse is still true to His children today. Let's start off by breaking down some of the words in this verse shall we: Fear : the Hebrew word is yare' meaning to cause to frighten ( affright ); to make or be afraid;
Good morning Gems! Today, I'll be sharing with you all one of the exciting things I'll be starting in March and it's a book club! I polled on Facebook and Instagram and had you all vote and the winner was a no-brainer! This is the first Book Club that I’ll be hosting ever and I am so excited. Fervent by Priscilla Shirer won hands down! We’re jumping into the topic of prayer and I’m a big person on reading and learning all that I can about prayer. I don’t know about you all, but my prayer life has its ups and downs. Now for those of you who don’t know, Priscilla Shirer is the actress from the movie War Room ( which I HIGHLY recommend ). She wrote a book for woman based off of the movie. Here’s bit of what to expect from this phenomenal book: “You have an enemy . . . and he’s dead set on destroying all you hold dear and keeping you from experiencing abundant life in Christ. What’s more, his approach to disrupting your life and discrediting your faith isn’t gene
