Synopsis:
We live in a deeply broken world . . . but there is hope.
Sexuality is a fundamental part of what it means to be human—part of God’s beautiful design when he created all things. And yet, sex in our world today looks nothing like the way that God intended it to be. Sexual brokenness surrounds us and, in one way or another, affects us all.

This sexual brokenness reveals our deep need for redemption—something quick fixes, mere behavior modification, or a set of rules can’t provide. Honest and direct yet kind and caring, this book points us to the only place we can find help for sexual brokenness—the transforming grace of Jesus Christ. Only this grace offers hope for a life of freedom, purity, and joy as God intended.
My Rating:
Paul David Tripp is a fairly new author for me. I've never read a complete copy of his work, but I've seen bits and pieces from his book New Morning Mercies. When I saw this book, Sex in a Broken World, I knew I had to have as I had just watched three sermons that talked about sex outside of marriage. The truth of the matter is that sex happens in this day and age -- it sells, it's normal and people love it. However, God created sex for a specific use in a specific manner and the world has completely distorted it.

Paul dives into his personal issues with sex and he uses a lot of scripture references which is something I always look for when reading books like this. He doesn't just give his personal opinion, but he shares what God's Word says regarding our bodies and sex. He also goes into the core issue of our society regarding sexual sin and gives practical and Biblical ways to deal with it properly. For me this book did a lot of convicting and helped me see my own wrongs when it comes to sex.

This book is a great read and may definitely convict you of your own sexual sin. It sheds light into the darkness and allows you to find ways through God's Word to help yourself. Easy read and awesome scriptural references. Definitely recommend it.

DOI Book Club - Fervent by Priscilla Shirer

Good morning Gems! Today, I'll be sharing with you all one of the exciting things I'll be starting in March and it's a book club! I polled on Facebook and Instagram and had you all vote and the winner was a no-brainer! This is the first Book Club that I’ll be hosting ever and I am so excited. Fervent by Priscilla Shirer won hands down! We’re jumping into the topic of prayer and I’m a big person on reading and learning all that I can about prayer. I don’t know about you all, but my prayer life has its ups and downs. Now for those of you who don’t know, Priscilla Shirer is the actress from the movie War Room ( which I HIGHLY recommend ). She wrote a book for woman based off of the movie. Here’s bit of what to expect from this phenomenal book: “You have an enemy . . . and he’s dead set on destroying all you hold dear and keeping you from experiencing abundant life in Christ. What’s more, his approach to disrupting your life and discrediting your faith isn’t gene...

VOTW | Isaiah 41:10 - Ever Present Help

Good morning Gems (& Gents)! This past weekend has been insane in both a good and scary way. I experienced something frightening, but in that situation I felt a sense of peace and contentment that I'd never would have experienced before if my relationship with God wasn't where it is now. As I was thinking of a verse for this week, I came across this one from the book of Isaiah and I knew this was it: Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. Such a small, yet powerful verse. This is a command and a promise from our Father whether we are in times of despair or in seasons of gladness. Though told this to the people of Israel, this verse is still true to His children today. Let's start off by breaking down some of the words in this verse shall we: Fear : the Hebrew word is  yare' meaning to cause to frighten ( affright ); to make or be afraid;...
