Good morning Gems!

Today's post is going to be a review of an awesome Bible study I had the opportunity to check out on the book of Ephesians. Synopsis:
A new kind of Bible study…
After the success of her first two books, Heather Holleman received many requests to write a Bible study. And as a college English instructor, she wanted to make sure it really taught and didn't simply inform. So she surveyed several women about what their dream study would look like, then got to work.
The result is Included with Christ, a narrative-driven study where you can bring your life before Scripture in the context of community. Together women will discern their personal shadow narratives—ways they are living outside of their identity in Christ—and then rewrite those narratives according to biblical truth.
This in-depth, 8-week study in Ephesians will equip women with six “signature stories” of God's work in their lives—helping them combat exclusion, loneliness, weakness, decay, emptiness, and silence.
Designed to facilitate honest sharing and help you internalize biblical truth, Included in Christ will provide community and connectedness as well as spiritual nourishment. It will also guide you in how to share your story and the hope of Christ with someone who doesn't yet know Him.
My Rating:
The book of Ephesians is definitely a book I enjoyed. I studied it in 4 days and knew it would be a book I'd love to study over and over. Included in Christ is an 8 week Bible study focused on the book of Ephesians written by Heather Holleman, who is a new author for me. Each week is broken down into 5 days so it allows you 2 days of either relaxing (meditating on the Word) or catching up on what you haven't completed.

I was excited for this study especially after checking out the brief synopsis that was provided, however, this was not a typical study that I personally like. It was more therapeutic than it was Biblical for me. The study itself is beautiful. I love the pops or blue and green which remind me to be at peace (blue) and to keep my faith strong (green). The study is well written and focuses on 7 words: included, chosen, seated, strengthened, renewed, proclaim and filled. I like the verbs she picked and how indepth she goes into them. The scripture references are perfect, the questions are even thought provoking. What turns me off is rather how the questions come off to me. I feel as if they are written as if a therapist is asking them. As much as I would have loved to give this study a full 5/5 I couldn't.

I love that this study contains a lot of writing. I am a firm believer that Bible studies should have a ton of space to write down answers and good thought provoking questions to get the reader involved in the Word. As I write this review, I'm still up in the air about this study. I like it, love how interactive it is, but some of the questions throw me off.

Would I recommend it? Definitely. I think it's a good one to have, but I wouldn't have it on my top list of Bible study recommendations. I say purchase it and look through it for yourself.

Go grab a copy!

VOTW | Isaiah 41:10 - Ever Present Help

Good morning Gems (& Gents)! This past weekend has been insane in both a good and scary way. I experienced something frightening, but in that situation I felt a sense of peace and contentment that I'd never would have experienced before if my relationship with God wasn't where it is now. As I was thinking of a verse for this week, I came across this one from the book of Isaiah and I knew this was it: Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. Such a small, yet powerful verse. This is a command and a promise from our Father whether we are in times of despair or in seasons of gladness. Though told this to the people of Israel, this verse is still true to His children today. Let's start off by breaking down some of the words in this verse shall we: Fear : the Hebrew word is  yare' meaning to cause to frighten ( affright ); to make or be afraid;

DOI Book Club - Fervent by Priscilla Shirer

Good morning Gems! Today, I'll be sharing with you all one of the exciting things I'll be starting in March and it's a book club! I polled on Facebook and Instagram and had you all vote and the winner was a no-brainer! This is the first Book Club that I’ll be hosting ever and I am so excited. Fervent by Priscilla Shirer won hands down! We’re jumping into the topic of prayer and I’m a big person on reading and learning all that I can about prayer. I don’t know about you all, but my prayer life has its ups and downs. Now for those of you who don’t know, Priscilla Shirer is the actress from the movie War Room ( which I HIGHLY recommend ). She wrote a book for woman based off of the movie. Here’s bit of what to expect from this phenomenal book: “You have an enemy . . . and he’s dead set on destroying all you hold dear and keeping you from experiencing abundant life in Christ. What’s more, his approach to disrupting your life and discrediting your faith isn’t gene
