Fervent Book Club | Week 1

Good morning Gems! Today starts the official kick off of our Fervent Book Club and we are so excited! If you haven't done so already, check out the introductory post I did back in February which gives details about what this book club is about and the schedule. This week we will be focusing on the introductory chapters of the book titled: This Means War and Opening in Prayer. If you haven't seen War Room yet, I highly suggest you find a way to watch it. It's a great movie all about prayer and Priscilla Shirer is the main actress as well as based her book off of that movie. Take your time this week reading these two chapters and preparing your mind and heart for whatever God wants you to hear and/or see over the course of these 6 weeks. I would suggest grabbing a pen ( or few ), journal ( notebook or paper ) and some highlighters because we are going to really dive into this book and examine ourselves and personal prayer lives. Over the course of the week you can ...

How To Pray Scripture

How To Pray Scripture  Here is a overview of How to Pray.  Keep this in mind as we journey through the next 6 weeks praying and reflecting on scripture.  I hope you will join us on The Facebook Group. 1. Read the passage slowly, soak in the words and take the verse  to heart. You may even want to  write it out on paper. 2. Reflect on what the passage is saying to you. How does this passage apply to your life right now? How does it address your prayer needs? What words stand out to  you and speak to your heart? 3. Respond to God by praying this passage back to him. Insert "I" or "me" in the passage to make it more personal. Or, insert a friend's name if you're praying the scripture for someone else. As you respond in prayer, consider these three responses:          - Rejoice in God's great goodness. Praise Him through the scripture.         - Repent of your mistakes and sins. Where is this...

Praying through March

Praying through March  Praying scripture is a beautiful way to pray. If  you don't think you're prayer language is "enough", the scriptures have it all. If you're not sure how to put it into words what's on your heart, there will be a scripture that already says it all. Let the Holy Spirit lead you in prayer through God's words, build your prayer vocabulary, and use scripture as your guide for prayer. Every tear, mumble, hum and silence God understands those are words also. So never feel like you can't pray because you have no words. Some times we need to be silent and listen for God.  March 's Devotional is 6 weeks of Praying scripture. This will tie into building a Battle Plan for serious, specific, and strategic prayer as we read Fervent by Priscilla Shirer.  I hope you join us on the Facebook Group for the Devotional  The Devotional will post every day at 6am EST God Bless, Angela

DOI Book Club - Fervent by Priscilla Shirer

Good morning Gems! Today, I'll be sharing with you all one of the exciting things I'll be starting in March and it's a book club! I polled on Facebook and Instagram and had you all vote and the winner was a no-brainer! This is the first Book Club that I’ll be hosting ever and I am so excited. Fervent by Priscilla Shirer won hands down! We’re jumping into the topic of prayer and I’m a big person on reading and learning all that I can about prayer. I don’t know about you all, but my prayer life has its ups and downs. Now for those of you who don’t know, Priscilla Shirer is the actress from the movie War Room ( which I HIGHLY recommend ). She wrote a book for woman based off of the movie. Here’s bit of what to expect from this phenomenal book: “You have an enemy . . . and he’s dead set on destroying all you hold dear and keeping you from experiencing abundant life in Christ. What’s more, his approach to disrupting your life and discrediting your faith isn’t gene...
