Fervent Book Club | Week 1

Good morning Gems!

Today starts the official kick off of our Fervent Book Club and we are so excited! If you haven't done so already, check out the introductory post I did back in February which gives details about what this book club is about and the schedule. This week we will be focusing on the introductory chapters of the book titled: This Means War and Opening in Prayer.
If you haven't seen War Room yet, I highly suggest you find a way to watch it. It's a great movie all about prayer and Priscilla Shirer is the main actress as well as based her book off of that movie.

Take your time this week reading these two chapters and preparing your mind and heart for whatever God wants you to hear and/or see over the course of these 6 weeks. I would suggest grabbing a pen (or few), journal (notebook or paper) and some highlighters because we are going to really dive into this book and examine ourselves and personal prayer lives.

Over the course of the week you can answer the discussion questions below and interact with others so that we can learn together and from one another.
  1. Have you stopped to ponder that there is a strategy against you? How does that change the way you want to move forward?
  2. Have you prayed with precision or prayed without "serious" thought?
  3. Is the concept of developing a “battle plan for serious, specific, and strategic prayer” a new concept for you?
  4. What is prayer the portal of? (see page 5)
  5. Have you created or do you own a prayer journal? If so, how has it helped you? If not, why don’t you or will you?
  6. Prayer is the _____ that drives everything. (see page 13)
Enjoy this week. Don't get too serious that you freak out, but really soak in all that you get out of the readings.

I pray that this week is the start of something beautiful for you and your prayer life.

Be a blessing and share this book club with a friend, family member or start your own. You won't regret it!

DOI Book Club - Fervent by Priscilla Shirer

Good morning Gems! Today, I'll be sharing with you all one of the exciting things I'll be starting in March and it's a book club! I polled on Facebook and Instagram and had you all vote and the winner was a no-brainer! This is the first Book Club that I’ll be hosting ever and I am so excited. Fervent by Priscilla Shirer won hands down! We’re jumping into the topic of prayer and I’m a big person on reading and learning all that I can about prayer. I don’t know about you all, but my prayer life has its ups and downs. Now for those of you who don’t know, Priscilla Shirer is the actress from the movie War Room ( which I HIGHLY recommend ). She wrote a book for woman based off of the movie. Here’s bit of what to expect from this phenomenal book: “You have an enemy . . . and he’s dead set on destroying all you hold dear and keeping you from experiencing abundant life in Christ. What’s more, his approach to disrupting your life and discrediting your faith isn’t gene...

VOTW | Isaiah 41:10 - Ever Present Help

Good morning Gems (& Gents)! This past weekend has been insane in both a good and scary way. I experienced something frightening, but in that situation I felt a sense of peace and contentment that I'd never would have experienced before if my relationship with God wasn't where it is now. As I was thinking of a verse for this week, I came across this one from the book of Isaiah and I knew this was it: Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. Such a small, yet powerful verse. This is a command and a promise from our Father whether we are in times of despair or in seasons of gladness. Though told this to the people of Israel, this verse is still true to His children today. Let's start off by breaking down some of the words in this verse shall we: Fear : the Hebrew word is  yare' meaning to cause to frighten ( affright ); to make or be afraid;...
